Job Summary

ComPsych is migrating from on-premise data centers to a modern, multi-cloud platform, and that work needs someone who knows both sides in depth: the network, compute, storage, databases, and applications we run today, and how to move, modernize, and operate them in the cloud, reliably and cost-effectively.

This is a hands-on Lead role, not an architect who hands off a diagram or a manager who runs a plan from a distance. You do the migration and modernization work across network, compute, storage, databases, and applications, and you make sure what runs in the cloud is secure, resilient, observable, and cost-optimized. AI isn't a side project here, it's how we work: you use AI to accelerate assessment, migration, and automation, and you validate what it produces. Our platform carries behavioral health data for millions of members, so reliability and security are non-negotiable and are not a tax on speed.

Primary Responsibilities

AI changes what your time goes toward. You're accountable across the migration lifecycle, from assessing what runs on-premise today to operating it reliably and cost-effectively in the cloud, but your hands-on role in each shifts: you assess, plan, and do the work, and you use AI to move faster while keeping judgment on what ships.

  • Migrate on-premise technologies to the cloud across the full stack. Network and hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN, DNS), compute, storage, and databases, plus application modernization and the AI tooling and productivity automation that goes with it, choosing the right approach for each workload rather than lifting and shifting everything.
  • Implement multi-cloud solutions across AWS and Azure. Design and build across both providers, deciding where to standardize, where to use native services, and how workloads interoperate.
  • Establish the cloud financial operational model (FinOps). Right-size, choose the right compute and storage models, autoscale, and build cost visibility and guardrails, and reduce recurring software-maintenance and licensing spend as workloads move off on-premise systems.
  • Deliver globally and optimize workloads. Global content delivery and workload optimization so applications are fast and efficient wherever members are, with capacity and performance tuned to real usage.
  • Build in resiliency, reliability, and recovery. Multi-region high availability, disaster recovery, and backup and restore, with the observability and telemetry to see and prove how systems behave.
  • Establish the Site Reliability Engineering discipline. Define service level indicators and objectives (SLIs/SLOs) and error budgets, stand up incident management and blameless postmortems, set on-call and escalation, and drive down toil through automation, so reliability is measured and engineered rather than hoped for.
  • Bake in security, identity, and compliance. Least-privilege identity and access management, secrets management, encryption in transit and at rest, and network segmentation and zero-trust, meeting regional compliance and data-sovereignty requirements across our domestic and international footprint and the frameworks we operate under (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and GDPR).
  • Automate the work and improve how it gets done. Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep) and scripting (Python, PowerShell), managing cloud vendors and migration partners, and improving delivery through agile and kanban.
  • Partner across teams and develop the people around you. Work with Engineering, Product, and Security to shape solutions rather than hand off tickets, and mentor and level up engineers as the specialist others turn to for cloud readiness.

Job Qualifications

  • You've migrated real on-premise systems to the cloud, across network, compute, storage, and databases, and you've modernized applications rather than just re-hosting them.
  • You understand and have implemented multi-cloud strategies, with production solutions across major providers (AWS and Azure preferred) and a clear view of the tradeoffs between them.
  • You know the cloud financial operational model (FinOps): right-sizing, commitment and discount strategy, cost visibility, and cutting recurring software-maintenance and licensing spend.
  • You engineer for global performance: global content delivery, workload optimization, and capacity and performance engineering (right-sizing, autoscaling).
  • You build for resiliency and reliability: multi-region high availability, disaster recovery, and backup, with strong observability and telemetry, and you've carried on-call.
  • You've established SRE as a discipline: service level objectives and error budgets, incident command and blameless postmortems, on-call, and toil reduction, and you've brought teams along in adopting it.
  • You engineer security and compliance in: least-privilege IAM, secrets, encryption, and network segmentation and zero-trust, with regional compliance and data-sovereignty experience across domestic and international operations and the frameworks we operate under (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and GDPR). In a system that carries behavioral health data, “it works” and “it's safe” are the same bar.
  • You automate with Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting: Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep, and Python or PowerShell, and AI is your primary surface for accelerating assessment, migration, and automation.
  • You've managed cloud vendors and migration partners and improved delivery through agile and kanban ways of working, and you communicate clearly to engineers and leadership.
  • You partner with Engineering, Product, and Security to shape solutions, not just take tickets, and you mentor and develop the engineers around you.
  • Credentials: 8+ years in infrastructure and cloud engineering with lead-level scope, hands-on across on-premise and cloud (AWS preferred, Azure); Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field; cloud certifications (AWS or Azure) a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full benefits package, including Paid Time Off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, robust EAP, wellness program, and much more
  • The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 (USD). The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, and scheduled hours.
