At Bedrock Talent, we're intentional about the companies we represent.
We don't partner with every startup that comes our way. We work with founders we'd be excited to work for ourselves, companies solving meaningful problems, and teams we genuinely believe have the potential to build category-defining businesses.
This is one of those companies.
Our client is an early-stage healthcare AI company on a mission to improve health outcomes by leveraging artificial intelligence, data science, and clinical expertise to generate meaningful, actionable insights from complex health data.
The team is building an AI-native platform designed from the ground up—not by retrofitting AI onto existing software, but by making intelligent systems the foundation of the product. Working alongside experienced founders, healthcare leaders, and world-class advisors, you'll have the opportunity to help define both the technology and the company itself.
We're looking for a Lead AI Engineer to build the technical foundation of the company's AI platform.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants to own architecture, write production code every day, and help shape the future of an AI-first healthcare company from the ground up.
You'll work closely with the CTO, Head of Product, Data Science leadership, and executive team to transform scientific ideas into scalable software, production AI systems, and customer-facing products. While you'll lead technical direction, this is very much a hands-on engineering role—not one spent managing large teams or sitting in meetings all day.
Rather than bury the important details in a long job description, here are the things that usually determine whether someone gets excited about this opportunity—or realizes it probably isn't the right fit.
You'll be one of the earliest technical leaders helping define how the platform is built.
The architecture, engineering culture, technical standards, and many of the core technical decisions still lie ahead. If you've always wanted to help build something from first principles, this is that opportunity.
This company is building an AI-native platform powered by LLMs, agent-based systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and modern machine learning infrastructure.
You'll design the systems that orchestrate intelligent agents, production AI workflows, and large-scale data pipelines.
On any given day you might be:
Designing platform architecture
Building production services
Shipping AI features
Improving cloud infrastructure
Working with product on roadmap decisions
Partnering with data scientists to productionize new models
If you enjoy variety and ownership, you'll thrive here.
This isn't the kind of role where you're responsible for one small piece of a much larger system.
You'll have visibility across the entire platform and significant influence over both technical direction and product strategy.
The team is tackling difficult healthcare problems with the belief that AI can meaningfully improve how people understand, manage, and improve their health.
It's an ambitious mission—and one the founders care deeply about.
One of the reasons Bedrock Talent chose to partner with this company is the leadership team.
They're thoughtful, collaborative, deeply technical, and committed to building a company that values curiosity, ownership, and long-term thinking over ego.
Design and build the company's AI-first platform architecture.
Develop agent-based systems, orchestration layers, and inference pipelines.
Build scalable data ingestion, transformation, and feature engineering pipelines.
Partner with Data Science to productionize machine learning models and AI systems.
Own engineering execution from planning through deployment.
Design reliable cloud infrastructure, APIs, and backend services.
Establish engineering best practices, testing standards, and CI/CD processes.
Ensure platform reliability, scalability, observability, and security.
Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and executive leadership to deliver customer-facing solutions.

Has 6–10+ years of software engineering experience.
Has built production AI or machine learning systems.
Has deep experience with Python and cloud-native architectures.
Has worked with LLMs, RAG pipelines, or agent-based systems.
Enjoys collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Data Science.
Has startup experience and enjoys building in ambiguous environments.
Writes clean, maintainable, production-quality code.
Wants to remain hands-on while helping shape technical direction.
Bonus Points
Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries.
Experience building SaaS platforms.
Familiarity with security, compliance, or audit requirements.
Experience at Series A or Series B startups.
Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) environments.
You've always wanted to be one of the first engineering hires at an AI company.
You love building systems from scratch.
You enjoy both architecture and implementation.
You're excited about LLMs, agentic workflows, and modern AI infrastructure.
You want your technical decisions to directly influence the trajectory of a company.
You're energized by solving meaningful healthcare problems.
You prefer managing large engineering organizations over writing code.
You enjoy narrowly scoped responsibilities rather than broad ownership.
You're looking for an established engineering organization with mature processes.
You prefer incremental feature work over designing foundational systems.
The company offers a competitive salary, meaningful early-stage equity, comprehensive healthcare benefits, generous PTO, and ongoing professional development support.
More importantly, this role offers the opportunity to help build the technical foundation of a company at a stage where your impact will be visible for years to come.
The best engineering opportunities don't come from maintaining someone else's architecture—they come from building your own.
This is one of those opportunities.
You'll help define the technical foundation of an AI-native healthcare platform, work alongside exceptional founders and technical leaders, and play a pivotal role in building technology that has the potential to improve healthcare at scale.
If you're excited by ownership, ambiguity, and building AI systems that solve meaningful problems, we'd love to connect.
