Project Director, Large Loss
+ (REMOTE)
$85,000–$105,000 annually, plus commission.

When a major residential or commercial property loss occurs, people need someone who can step into uncertainty, establish control, and create a clear path forward. If you thrive when the pace is fast, the stakes are high, and everyone is looking to you for answers, this may be your role.

Are you an experienced restoration or construction professional who knows how to take ownership of complex projects and keep them moving from start to finish and thrives in fast-moving environments, knows how to take ownership, and is comfortable going where the work takes you, we’d like to hear from you.  We’re looking for an experienced Large Loss Project Manager to lead high-value residential and commercial reconstruction projects across multiple markets. This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing large, complex losses, comfortable making decisions in the field, and capable of operating with a high level of autonomy. Our Large Loss Project Managers oversee projects with an expected benchmark of approximately $500,000 per job, coordinating everything from project planning through execution, customer communication, and financial performance. You’ll have the opportunity to lead substantial residential and commercial reconstruction projects, make meaningful decisions in the field, and manage your projects with a high degree of autonomy.

What You Will Own

As a Large Loss Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of projects from initial assessment through completion. Responsibilities include:
  • Manage large-loss residential and commercial reconstruction projects from start to finish.
  • Oversee projects with an expected benchmark of approximately $500,000 per job.
  • Review and interpret scopes of work, ROMs, estimates, architectural drawings, engineers’ reports, and supporting project documentation.
  • Manage projects utilizing both traditional estimating and Time & Materials (T&M) methods.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, documentation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, field teams, and other project resources.
  • Monitor project performance, profitability, quality, and timelines.
  • Identify potential project challenges early and take initiative to resolve them.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers, insurance professionals, property owners, vendors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
  • Ensure projects meet company quality and safety standards.
  • Provide regular project updates and reporting to leadership.
  • Respond quickly when large-loss events or project needs require deployment.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate brings:
  • 5+ years of construction, reconstruction, restoration, or project management experience.
  • Experience managing both residential and commercial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value projects; experience with projects valued at approximately $500,000 or greater is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate, estimating, ROM/scopes, and Time & Materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret scopes of work, estimates, architectural drawings, engineers’ reports, and construction documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project sequencing, budgets, schedules, and job-site operations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and multiple project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to be assertive, proactive, accountable, and self-directed.
  • Confidence making decisions and managing priorities without constant supervision.
  • Ability to adapt quickly when project conditions or business needs change.
  • Ability to walk into a distressed environment and project calm, confidence, empathy, and command.
  • Ability to think several steps ahead, anticipate risk, and translate complexity into a practical action plan.
Especially Valuable
  • Experience leading losses involving occupied facilities, multi-tenant properties, healthcare, hospitality, education, industrial, government, or other operationally complex environments.
  • Background as a commercial project manager, construction superintendent, architect, building consultant, estimator, facility professional, or restoration leader.
  • IICRC, OSHA, Lead, or other relevant restoration, safety, environmental, construction, or project-management credentials.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, business, or a related field—or equivalent industry experience.
Travel & Work Environment
  • This is a high-travel position requiring approximately 75% travel.
  • Large Loss Project Managers may be deployed to project locations for multiple weeks at a time, depending on the size, location, and needs of the project. Candidates must be comfortable traveling frequently and being away from home for extended periods.
  • The remaining approximately 25% of the position is remote/work-from-home.
  • You’ll have flexibility in managing your schedule and day-to-day responsibilities. However, large-loss restoration is unpredictable by nature. When a significant loss occurs, you must be prepared to travel on short notice when contacted by your manager.
