Junior Data Analyst

Job Description:

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Jr. Data Analyst to join our team, supporting the Integrated Healthcare Transformation (IHT) initiative. The primary responsibility of this role is to obtain and analyze data through advanced computerized models and algorithms to support data-driven decision-making for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Extract and analyze data using advanced algorithms and models to identify trends and insights.
• Develop visualizations such as charts and graphs to effectively communicate complex data patterns.
• Present findings and recommendations to management on how data insights can influence operations and strategy.
• Support development and optimization of business models by identifying data-informed improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure analysis aligns with project objectives.
• Assist in preparing data-driven reports and presentations tailored to various technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Health, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a data analyst or in a related analytical role.
• Proficiency in developing data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Pyramid Analytics.
• Solid understanding of data modeling and trend analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in interpreting and communicating data findings to a diverse audience.
• Familiarity with querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL or other data tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with VA information systems and databases.
• Knowledge of healthcare data and terminology, particularly in the context of the VA.
• Exposure to statistical programming languages such as Python or R.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience supporting government or federal health IT projects.

Eligibility:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. 

Salary range: $70,000-$100,000
