The Field Organizer will develop and implement organizing strategies to expand 350 Japan's grassroots climate movement. They are responsible for recruiting participants, mentoring activist leaders, and designing training programs to drive impactful campaigns.

350’s mission is to keep carbon in our atmosphere to a safe level, below 350 parts per million. We do this by mobilizing ordinary people to campaign for universal access to clean energy and an end to fossil fuels. Our campaigns are rooted in local organizing, so that while achieving measurable reductions in fossil fuel emissions, we also build the power and potential of the climate movement for yet more impact to come. About the Field Organizer
The Field Organizer will play a leading role in 350 Japan, organizing and expanding grassroots climate movements to drive impactful campaigns. The Field Organizer will recruit individuals and groups, nurture leaders, and design training programs that empower activists to advance 350 Japan’s goals—all while respecting Japan’s unique cultural context. The role will be located in Japan, with a strong preference for the Kanto area. Native level Japanese and business-level English required. However, if we don't find a candidate who meets that profile, we will consider people with different experience, language skills, and expertise. ● 5+ years of organizing experience (or 3+ years in climate-focused movement organizing).
We are looking for someone comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Position Type: Full-time- 36hours per week.
Application Deadline: Although we hope to begin interviews during the week of Oct 19th, this job is open until filled or until the hiring manager determines they can no longer accept applications.
Start Date: November 15, 2026 (flexible).
Compensation: Salary tier 1.3. Country-specific salaries for this level can be found here.
Benefits: In addition to a fully remote, 36-hour workweek and two all-staff breaks per year, we offer a suite of comprehensive benefits - details depend on the location of the role, but we generally aim for employees to receive high-quality health insurance and retirement planning benefits in their respective location.
Location: Remote in Japan (Tokyo or Kanto Area).
