Position Summary

 

The Intake Records Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare industry by ensuring patient information is accurately obtained,
recorded and stored. This role provides support to new patient visits with physicians and advanced providers at Orlando Health.

 

Work location: 3090 Caruso Court Suite 50 

 

Work schedule: Monday - Friday. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm


Responsibilities

Essential Functions
• Organizes and maintains electronic health records (EHRs) and paper documents.
• Continuously monitors patient charts from scheduling date to appointment date and accurately records all necessary
paperwork.
• Receives, reviews, synthesizes, and indexes external documents into the EHR.
• Timely management, organization, and filing of incoming and outgoing facsimile documents.
• Communicates with healthcare providers, team members, and patients to clarify or obtain additional information.
• Contributes to support processes during establishment of patient care by anticipating and planning for unique needs.
• Maintains a concise, organized, and up to date caseload in compliance with department developed metrics.
• Maintains privacy of all patient information in accordance with HIPPA, ethics, and compliance regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Performs regular audits and quality checks on patient charts and medical records.
• Active participation and prompt responses in communication methods utilized at Orlando Health during working hours.
• Respects diversity, fosters inclusion, and utilizes appropriate dialogue per Orlando Health Code of Conduct. .
• Builds and sustains good relationships with external organizations by fostering trust and showing appreciation for contributions.
• Maintains a professional appearance while in the workplace.
• Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local
standards.

• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

 

Other Related Functions
• Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, EHR).
• Regularly attends in person, virtual, and department meetings.
• Performs all other duties, as assigned.
• Willingness to act as a preceptor and mentor for incoming hires.


Qualifications

Education/Training
• High school graduate or equivalent education.


Experience
• One (1) year of retail, customer service, or health care experience.
• Computer experience required.
