Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all human resources functions across Apostolic Christian Ministries, in support of ACCFS, Elders Teaching Resource, HarvestCall, and Onward Media. Working collaboratively with leadership, the HR Manager owns and administers personnel processes including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, compliance, staff care, and professional development, facilitating a healthy workplace culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic HR leadership by implementing approved systems, processes, and programs, and overseeing daily department workflow.
- Lead the full talent acquisition cycle, partnering with hiring managers to define needs, manage job postings, oversee applications, conduct interviews, and facilitate hiring and onboarding.
- Coordinate HR-related training, including compliance, safeguarding, leadership development, and organizational initiatives.
- Oversee performance management, including evaluations, coaching, and corrective action processes.
- Advise leaders on employee relations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation.
- Promote and support a healthy organizational culture grounded in clear expectations, communication, accountability, and Christian values.
- Address employee and missionary concerns with discretion, fairness, and confidentiality.
- Administer employment agreements and other personnel-related contracts.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure consistent application of HR policies and handbooks for employees and missionaries.
- Manage compensation and benefits research to recommend competitive programs.
- Create and support learning and development opportunities for employee professional growth.
- Provide guidance on complex HR matters, including accommodations, investigations, allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining knowledge of employment law, reviewing policies, and adjusting practices as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications
Church/Spiritual Qualifications
- Active member in good standing in the Apostolic Christian Church of America, with local elder approval.
- Commitment to serving the full spectrum of ACCA membership across all congregations.
- Support the ACCA Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage and Sexuality.
- Models a lifestyle and character that reflects Christian values in both personal conduct and professional leadership.
- Proven track record of exercising sound judgment, discretion, and servant-hearted leadership.
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (HR certification a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of HR leadership experience; nonprofit or missions experience desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in HR compliance, risk management, and personnel administration.
- Ability to handle sensitive personnel matters with discretion, compassion, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities, and excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance pastoral sensitivity with firm adherence to policy and legal requirements.
- Experience working with volunteers, missionaries, or ministry staff across cultural contexts helpful.
- Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Meets all legal requirements for employment and authorization to work.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- This role involves travel, including occasional overnight stays, regional and national trips, and occasional weekend travel depending on the organization’s needs.
