What We Are Looking For
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with more senior Human Resources Generalists and Management in supporting the HR needs of employees and vendors. This position carries out responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: onboarding, recruitment/employment, benefits administration, policy implementation/interpretation, performance management, state and federal compliance, and affirmative action. The HR Generalist ensures that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and that plan provisions are followed.
Requirements
· Manages the new hire onboarding process by scheduling orientation classes, verifying, processing, and auditing I9 documents, entering and validating correct new hire data into the HCM platform, and processing E-Verify cases. Refreshes the onboarding process when necessary to include updated policies or mandates.
· Conducts day 1 orientation with new hires which includes time keeping, policy and protocol training, benefits, PTO, 401k, employee handbook review, and navigating Paylocity. Assigns onboarding trainings and tasks to new hires.
· Handles the entirety of the pre-onboarding process, which includes verifying background checks, communication with new hires, notification of departments and managers, new hire Jira tickets, drafting and sending pre-onboarding documents and paperwork to new hires. Works closely with IT to ensure smooth equipment delivery or pick up coordination.
· Assists managers in acclimation of new hires. Completes all new hire checklists and creates all necessary new hire reports for Accounting. Administers new hire onboarding experience survey and assesses new hire feedback.
· Creates annual onboarding schedule and communicates schedule to managers.
· Assists when required in the recruiting process by posting positions, securing approvals, reviewing resumes, becoming familiar with the applicant tracking system (ATS), scheduling interviews, knowledgeable about the new hire PAF workflow, initiating and conducting background/reference checks and drafting offers for candidates.
· Interviews include corporate culture “fit”, competency style interviews to determine retention and skills, situational interviewing, and monitoring tests or assignments.
· Tracks status of candidates in the Human Capital Management (HCM) system and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process. Ensures timely communication with candidates.
· Administers all company-wide annual trainings, notices, and acknowledgements and tracks completion of assignments. Follows up and addresses incomplete assignments if necessary.
· If assigned, may assist with administering health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. (not a primary function)
· Assists in maintaining, learning, and utilizing the HRIS.
· May assist with open enrollment.
· Performs customer service functions by answering basic employee requests and questions.
· Maintains all employee files.
· Creates and runs reports as needed.
· Assists with audits, including annual SOC audits, benefits, 401k, etc.
· Assists with wellness programs and team building programs and developing a positive new hire experience.
· Has knowledge of basic CA labor law and basic Federal employment practices.
· Provides back up to HR & Payroll Assistant and HR Generalist I as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience
At least 1-2 years of similar or related experience.
(1) Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience (2) multi-craft skills acquired through extensive on-the-job training or apprenticeship programs or (3) in-depth industry and job specific technical skills acquired through a combination of formal instruction and on-the-job training (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
SHRM and/or HRCI coursework.
Experience with a HCM or other related-software software.
Foundational HR acumen.
