Job Summary:

The National Clinician Consultation Center (NCCC) HIV/Viral Hepatitis Clinical Education Specialist will be responsible for providing clinical education to NCCC’s external users/learners via the program’s teleconsultation services and public-facing resources.

As an NCCC Clinical Education Specialist, the incumbent will utilize their clinical acumen and practice experience on HIV, viral hepatitis and substance use care to provide clinical education directly to NCCC users across its various teleconsultation services.  This includes answering incoming calls from clinicians nationally regarding HIV, viral hepatitis, and other key co-occurring conditions (e.g., substance use/behavioral health disorders) as appropriate to their training and relevant clinical experience.  The incumbent will also perform administrative/ operational duties that accompany their role as an educator with the NCCC, as well as the overall work of the NCCC, such as collecting and documenting relevant education/training activity information to ensure accurate and complete data for reporting and other purposes, preparing materials to distribute to callers, participating in quality improvement meetings and related activities (such as internal training sessions on emerging topics of interest), and assisting (as appropriate) with relevant regulatory activities to ensure program compliance.  Education domains may also include best and emerging practices in HIV/viral hepatitis/SUD-related patient care, working with allied professionals to deliver team-based care in these areas, and impacts of systems/policy changes on health care delivery for people living with HIV/viral hepatitis/SUD.

The Clinical Education Specialist will interface with diverse internal and external stakeholders representing various professional and personal experiences: therefore, they will be expected to apply a warm and non-judgmental manner and consistently demonstrate interpersonal professionalism, sensitivity, and integrity.  NCCC staff are asked to maintain a collaborative approach to their work and help cultivate standardized workflows and processes to ensure high-quality services are consistently provided and that program deliverables are met.

Currently the NCCC offers services 7 days/week; therefore, depending on the program’s needs as well as applicant availability, the incumbent may be asked to help staff services on some weekends.
