The Head of Video Editing owns the editing function behind every paid social ad we ship, but this is not primarily an editing seat. It's a systems and leadership role for someone with elite editing taste.
Today, our editing team has no standardized way of working. Your mandate is to change that: build the editing system from the ground up, the workflows, the quality standards, the templates, and a complete training program that turns editors into consistent, high-output performers. You'll inherit a small team and build the rest of it underneath you.
Our production pipeline is going AI-native. AI-generated video, avatar-based UGC, generative video models, AI voice, is the direction of this function, not a side experiment. You should be the kind of person who has already rebuilt parts of your workflow around tools that didn't exist six months ago, and who will do it again six months from now.
Once ramped, the majority of your time goes to systems, training, onboarding, and deep creative feedback, with hands-on editing reserved for setting reference cuts and solving the hardest edits yourself. Your success is measured by the throughput and quality of the team, not your personal output.
The Head of Video Editing reports to the Head of Growth and works in close daily collaboration with the Creative Strategist, whose scripts and briefs feed the editing pipeline. You own editing as its own function within the growth org, with the same level of ownership over your function that the Creative Strategist has over copy.
Editing System & Standards: Design and document the end-to-end editing system, standardized workflows, templates, asset libraries, quality checklists, and platform specs, so that how we edit is defined, teachable, and repeatable rather than living in individual editors' heads.
Training Program: Build the complete training and onboarding program for video editors from scratch: curriculum, reference libraries of winning cuts, graded exercises, and clear progression from new hire to fully ramped. Every editor we hire goes through the program you build.
Creative Feedback & Taste: Provide frequent, specific, high-volume feedback on every dimension of the craft, visuals, captioning, scene selection, transitions, pacing, sound design, and develop each editor's judgment over time, not just their output.
AI-Native Pipeline: Own the AI video stack. Continuously evaluate new video generation models, avatar/UGC generation tools, AI voice, and AI-assisted editing workflows as they ship, and integrate the ones that improve speed or quality. What "current best practice" means in this pipeline should change every quarter because you changed it.
Team Building: Hire, train, and manage editors and freelance/contractor support as volume scales. You inherit a small existing team and build the rest of the function underneath you.
Throughput & Quality: Run the editing pipeline to increase both volume and quality simultaneously, fast turnarounds, many hooks and variants per concept, no drop in the craft that makes an ad convert.
Hands-On Editing: Personally produce reference cuts that define the quality bar, and take on the highest-stakes or most difficult edits yourself.
Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with the Creative Strategist and Head of Growth on scripts and briefs, and flag upstream when a brief is unclear or won't translate into a strong edit.
Pipeline Management: Own editor tooling and manage the editing pipeline in ClickUp.
Required:
Elite personal editing taste across short-form ad formats (UGC ads, VSLs, hooks) for Meta and/or TikTok, and the ability to articulate why a cut works, precisely enough that another editor can apply it.
Proven experience building editing systems, SOPs, or training programs, you've turned "how I edit" into "how a team edits," ideally in direct-response or performance marketing.
Current, hands-on fluency with the AI video stack: generative video models, avatar/AI-UGC tools, AI voice, and AI-assisted editing workflows. You should be able to speak specifically about which tools you use today, what replaced what in your workflow over the past year, and why.
You can name, unprompted, what's changed in paid social ad editing in the last 90 days, formats, styles, tools, platform behavior. Staying current isn't a task you schedule; it's your default state.
Experience managing a team or freelance pool of editors, including reviewing cuts and developing skills over time.
Deep understanding of direct-response principles and how editing choices move performance: hook rate, hold rate, CTR.
Experience delivering finished ads at high volume and fast turnaround.
Preferred:
Experience in the supplement, wellness, or DTC e-commerce category.
Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager or the Meta Ad Library and performance metrics (hook rate, hold rate, CTR, ROAS).
Experience with ClickUp or similar project management tools.
This is not for people who primarily want to edit. The majority of this role is building systems, training people, and giving feedback, your team's output is the product, not your personal cuts.
This is not for people whose knowledge of editing tools and trends is a year old. If you can't tell us what you've adopted or dropped from your workflow in the past six months, this isn't the right fit.
This is not for people who see AI-generated video as a threat or a gimmick. It is the core direction of this pipeline.
This is not for people who need a slow, one-perfect-cut process. We operate at high volume and speed.
This is not for people who are resistant to direct, frequent feedback, or uncomfortable giving it. We give feedback often, in both directions, and expect it to be applied.
Fully remote position with flexible working hours.
Direct access to and regular collaboration with the Head of Growth and Creative Strategist.
Fast-paced, high-ownership environment with minimal approval layers between brief and finished ad.
Performance and outcomes are prioritized over hours worked or process.
Output-Focused: We prioritize and reward results.
Accountability: Team members own their decisions, mistakes, and outcomes.
Thirst for Knowledge: We learn continuously from data, customers, and each other.
