About the Role
The Head of Product- Payer Solutions leads Innovaccer’s payer product portfolio, spanning AI applications in IT, financial and clinical operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, the Head of Payer Solutions is a senior leadership role with broad organizational scope — you will own the product strategy and roadmap end to end, lead a team of product managers, partner deeply with engineering, data science, design, and clinical operations, and work hand-in-hand with go-to-market teams to personally grow, mature, and scale the go-to-market strategy.
The ideal candidate is someone who has taken a product or a business from a standing start to a real, referenceable market position. You should be equal parts strategist, innovator and closer: someone who can build the plan and then walk into a room with a health plan CXOs and sell it.
A Day in the Life
Business & Product Strategy
- Define and own the end-to-end strategy for Galaxy, Innovaccer's payer solution spanning risk adjustment, quality management, payment integrity, and utilization management, with agentic AI as the operating model rather than a feature layer.
- Develop a differentiated point of view on where the market is heading and translate that into an AI-first product roadmap that positions Innovaccer ahead of the curve, defining where Galaxy expands next — new use cases, new payer segments, new regulatory surface area — and building the business case for each bet.
- Partner with the CPO to shape Innovaccer's overall product narrative and communicate strategy to customers, investors, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead a team of product leaders to develop world-class products with the agility of an early-stage startup
Go-to-Market & Commercial Ownership
- Build and own the go-to-market plan for Galaxy: target segments, buyer personas, sales motion, and the proof points that move a payer CXO from interested to signed.
- Be the lead seller in strategic deals — you will personally pitch, negotiate, and help close alongside sales, not hand off a deck, do demos, and step back.
- Partner with sales, marketing, and customer success to build and convert pipeline, and be direct with yourself and the team about what is working and what is not.
Team & Execution Leadership
- Work seamlessly with GTM and commercial teams to execute at the pace the market demands
- Set a high operating cadence: fast decisions, clear prioritization, and a bias toward shipping and closing over deliberating.
- Partner with engineering, data science, and clinical and regulatory SMEs to make sure what gets built is what the market will actually buy.
- Own the metrics that matter to the business — pipeline, bookings, retention, and product adoption — and build a rhythm of accountability around them.
Market & Customer Engagement
- Be Galaxy's most visible external voice — with customers, at industry conferences, in analyst and KLAS conversations, and in the press.
- Develop deep relationships with payer CXOs, VPs of Risk Adjustment, VPs of Quality and Stars, and Medical Directors of UM, understanding their world well enough to sell into it credibly.
- Represent Innovaccer in competitive evaluations against point payer vendors and payer-owned solutions, and win the room.
- Turn every customer conversation into product and GTM insight, and close the loop back into strategy fast.
What You Need
This role demands a rare combination of builder instincts, commercial range, and payer domain fluency.
- 8+ years of experience in product, strategy, or general management, with a demonstrated track record of launching new products or new businesses into market from an early stage, including the strategy, the go-to-market plan, and the first wave of customers.
- Entrepreneurial, founder-operator mindset: you have owned P&L responsibility, you have taken products from idea to market, and you have a track record of consulting with payer clients on growth and market entry.
- A demonstrated ability to sell: You can personally pitch, negotiate, and close with senior executives — you do not just build the product and hand it to someone else to sell.
- Payer domain fluency: in risk adjustment, quality and Stars performance, utilization management, or value-based care economics — or the speed to get fluent fast.
- Comfort owning a business outcome, not just a roadmap: pipeline, bookings, and market share, in addition to product quality and adoption.
- A track record of building and leading high-performing, cross-functional teams: You hire well, develop talent, and build teams from a standing start.
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills: equally credible in a boardroom, an analyst briefing, or a working session with a health plan's VP of Risk Adjustment.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity: You do not wait for a fully built playbook. You build the plan as you go and create clarity for the people around you.
Nice to have
- Prior experience selling to health plan or payers.
- Experience competing against or partnering with payer point vendors or payer-owned solutions.
- Experience scaling a health-tech or payer-tech business from early revenue to a durable, referenceable market position.
- Direct P&L ownership at a startup or business unit, including pricing and packaging decisions.
- Familiarity with agentic AI or AI-native product architectures in healthcare.
