Genetic Counselor Assistant - Remote

Labcorp Genetics and Women’s Health is seeking a US Remote Based Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) to join their team! This position will primarily be supporting Labcorp’s Genetics and Women’s Carrier Screening performed at our Westborough, MA and San Francisco, CA laboratories.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:30 -6:00 eastern time zone with rotating Saturdays (approximately 1 Saturday per month).

Responsibilities:

• Work with the lab Genetic Counselor team to support clients that order testing performed at Labcorp’s Westborough, MA and San Franciso, CA laboratories
• Review a defined set of molecular test requisitions/incoming samples for clarity of physician orders
• Provide support to the molecular lab by monitoring worklists and adding and canceling tests.
• Generate paperwork for sendout tests and monitoring tracking lists
• Respond to telephone and email inquiries from Labcorp clients, health care providers, Labcorp’s laboratories and branches to coordinate all applicable genetic testing
• Contact clients to obtain pertinent demographic and clinical information and communicate with clients to ensure that the appropriate testing is ordered
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems related to testing by contacting clients or other Labcorp facilities
• Learn multiple laboratory-based computer applications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a Biological Science 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 or more years’ experience working as a Genetic Counselor Assistant 
• 1 or more years’ customer service experience
• 1 or more years’ experience working in a clinical genetics testing laboratory with next generation sequencing

• 1 or more years’ experience with Labcorp’s Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

Additional Job Standards:

• Familiarity with genetics concepts

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively
• Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly

• Strong project management skills
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems, and make recommendations

**Pay Range: $25.50-$34.00 / hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data
