AI Summary

The role involves building the HR program for GB Europa, including creating employee handbooks and implementing HR systems. Once established, the assistant will take full day-to-day ownership of HR operations and personnel management.

Gracie Barra is one of the largest and most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations in the world, built on three core values: Brotherhood, Integrity, and Development. Our HR Program exists to protect the organization, develop A-Players, and scale our culture across every region we operate in — with clear expectations, clear growth paths, and clear accountability for every Team Member.

About the Role

GB Europa is rebuilding its HR Program from the ground up. We are hiring an HR Assistant to work hand-in-hand with our HR Manager through a structured implementation phase, and then take full day-to-day ownership of HR operations for GB Europa.

This is a hands-on, build-it-with-us role. You will learn Gracie Barra's HR systems, policies, and processes as they are created — not by inheriting a finished playbook, but by helping write it. By October 2026, you will be operating GB Europa's HR function with a lot more independence, with ongoing strategic support.

What You'll Do

Phase 1 — Build

  • Work directly alongside the HR Coordinator to build GB Europa's Employee Handbook and initial HR policies, adapted to EU, UK, and Portuguese labor requirements.
  • Help select, set up, and document GB Europa's HR system (Rippling, BambooHR, Airtable, or another needs-tailored system).
  • Learn and document onboarding, offboarding, and personnel record-keeping processes as they are designed.
  • Support mapping of the recruitment and selection process for GB Europa's planned 2027 hiring.

Phase 2 — Own

  • Take full day-to-day ownership of HR operations for the GB Europa team.
  • Maintain personnel files, performance records, and HR system data with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support Team Member onboarding and offboarding independently, following the documented processes.
  • Participate in a weekly tactical 1:1 with the HR Manager and GB Europa leadership to review priorities, blockers, and metrics.
  • Help execute GB Europa's 2027 hiring process once fully trained and ready.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort with detailed documentation and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership once trained — this role is designed to grow into full autonomy.
  • Comfort working remotely across UK and Portugal time zones, with close collaboration during the build phase.
  • Fluent English; Portuguese is a strong plus given the Lisbon-based working rhythm of the team.
  • Prior HR, administrative, or people-operations experience is helpful but not required — willingness to learn matters more.
  • Alignment with Gracie Barra's culture of Brotherhood, Integrity, and Development.

Gracie Barra is an equal opportunity environment and evaluates all candidates on qualifications, values alignment, and ability to grow into the role's responsibilities.
