Lion Studios
 is a mobile games publisher that works with mobile developers to get their games discovered by players around the world. Headquartered in San Francisco, Lion Studios’ creative and strategy teams utilize their expertise to help game developers break through the noise and grow their businesses. 

Since launching in 2018, Lion Studios has driven 90% of its games to the Top 10 in the App Store and Google Play and helped drive 16 games to #1 in the US App Store’s Top Free chart. 
 
Role Overview

As a Game Designer, you will support our Turkish teams and work on our successful casual puzzle titles. You’ll work closely with external development teams, studio managers, and you'll have the exciting opportunity to ideate, craft, and analyze our existing and future puzzle games, contributing to their success. 

You’ll thrive here if you’re a versatile game design generalist with a strong interest in level design, comfortable building relationships across multiple teams, and able to balance creative judgement with data-informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Design engaging & challenging core gameplay loops, player experiences, and monetization strategies.
  • Partner with external studios in Turkey throughout the new game development pipeline, from early concepts to playable builds.
  • Design new mechanics that enhance depth and progression while fitting seamlessly into the game’s design approach.
  • Evaluate player data, identify trends, and optimize level funnels for retention and monetization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with developers to align with overall product goals.
  • Keep an eye on top-performing games to understand market trends and extract insights.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • At least 3+ years of experience as a game designer, or in a similar field.
  • Professional experience in game design, with the ability to contribute across mechanics, systems, progression, and player experience.
  • Confidence using data and player insights to identify design problems and recommend solutions.
  • Strong creative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to align design with the product vision.
  • Advanced analytical skills, ability to spot patterns and trends
  • Experience with balancing levels and funnel optimization
  • Fluency in Turkish and the ability to communicate effectively with Turkish-speaking studio teams.

Desired Skills

  • Game design experience as a publisher in puzzle genres is a huge plus
  • Experience with liveops, A/B testing, or data-informed iteration cycles.
  • Familiarity with Figma or similar visual collaboration software for mock-ups
  • Proficient using AI tools for generating early prototypes
  • Track record of publishing/working on successful hypercasual, casual, or AAA titles
