Freelance News Writer — GTA 6 Bible

Location: Remote (applications from all regions welcome) Type: Freelance / contractor Compensation: Competitive per-article rate based on experience and story type

About GTA 6 Bible

GTA 6 Bible is the wiki, database, interactive map and news desk for Grand Theft Auto VI, and part of GAMURS Group. GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 and will be the largest entertainment launch of the decade. We're building the site people go to first — and the newsroom that gets there before anyone else.

The Role

We're seeking a Freelance News Writer to cover GTA 6 across two very different audiences: our own readers, who are deeply invested and arrive from search, and a much larger mainstream audience who reach us through syndication platforms like NewsBreak and have never played the game. The ideal candidate can write for both, and understands why the same story needs two different headlines.

This is a fast, high-output role suited to someone who enjoys a busy newsroom and can find stories rather than wait for them.

Responsibilities

  • Write short-form GTA 6 and Rockstar news daily — trailers, release and pre-load logistics, vehicles, characters, map details, and official announcements — written for search.
  • Find and write GTA-adjacent human interest and true crime, where the game is the detail that makes an otherwise ordinary story strange. These are our strongest syndication performers.
  • Pitch and originate stories from primary sources — the Rockstar Newswire, Take-Two investor filings, store listing changes, ratings boards, r/GTA6 and GTAForums — rather than rewriting other outlets.
  • Write two headlines for every story: one for search, one for the feed.
  • Put factual accuracy front and centre, particularly on stories involving named individuals or criminal matters.
  • Monitor news cycles and react fast on major beats — Trailer 3, the 12 November pre-load, and the 19 November launch.
  • Publish to WordPress and NewsBreak, including featured image selection and internal linking.

Requirements

  • Proven experience covering news, entertainment or culture at pace.
  • Experience writing for syndication platforms (NewsBreak, MSN, SmartNews, Yahoo) or Google Discover, and an understanding of how they differ from search.
  • The ability to take a local or niche story and give it mainstream appeal.
  • Scrupulous attribution — you know when to write 'allegedly', and you can source a claim to a document.
  • Clean copy to a high standard of English, submitted with minimal edits needed.
  • Familiarity with SEO, WordPress, Trello, Slack and other common industry tools.
  • Working knowledge of the GTA series. You don't need to be a lore expert, but you need to understand why people care.
  • Reliable availability during breaking news cycles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Local news, tabloid or true crime experience — as relevant here as a games media background, arguably more.
  • An eye for an attention-grabbing featured image.
  • The ability to pitch original angles beyond the daily churn.

Compensation

Competitive per-article rate based on experience and story type. Full-time contractor arrangements may be available for the right candidate.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • A brief introduction
  • Your resume or portfolio
  • 3–5 relevant writing samples — news rather than features. Flag any story you found yourself.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a short paid test assignment.

Equal Opportunities
