Fintech General Manager

This is a remote position.

Driving operational excellence and strategic development in the fintech industry, this remote leadership position takes full responsibility for managing business performance and leading expansion across sub-Saharan Africa. The role balances hands-on management of a small, highly specialised team with driving revenue growth, strengthening supplier relationships, expanding product offerings, and ensuring customer success.

Operating within the electronic payments and point-of-sale ecosystem, the position requires an individual to oversee daily operations, manage budgets, direct technology and software strategies, and cultivate major international technology partnerships. The position involves regular camera-on virtual collaboration with internal teams, customers, and global partners, as well as periodic international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business strategies aligned with target growth, revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
  

• Provide overall leadership, mentorship, and operational management across a multidisciplinary team.
  

• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities across sub-Saharan Africa while building strategic relationships with banks, payment providers, fintechs, and retailers.
  

• Lead commercial negotiations regarding agreements, pricing, distribution rights, and international supplier partnerships across Asia and Europe.
  

• Maintain industry expertise to evaluate terminal hardware, software, and value-added solutions to expand the product portfolio.
  

• Oversee supply chain, logistics, procurement, inventory availability, and terminal repair operations.
  

• Align technical capabilities with commercial opportunities by collaborating closely with software development teams on applications and integrations.
  

• Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, margin monitoring, cost optimisation, and management reporting.
  

Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
  

• Minimum of 10 years of experience within the payments or point-of-sale terminal industry.
  

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management or executive leadership role.
  

• Proven track record of managing and governing business financial performance.
  

• Demonstrated expertise with point-of-sale payment terminals and ecosystems, including Android-based payment devices.
  

• Operational experience in terminal procurement, distribution, support, and repair.
  

• Experience operating across multiple African countries and managing relationships with Asian and European suppliers.
  

• Willingness and ability to undertake periodic international travel within Africa, Europe, and Asia.
  

Desirable Requirements

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  

• Professional industry certifications related to payments, banking, or electronic transactions.
  

• Direct experience distributing and selling point-of-sale terminals within sub-Saharan Africa.
  

• Background in working directly with international hardware manufacturers.
