The Finance Officer manages day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and vendor coordination for IEEFA Australia. They also support grant financial reporting, budgeting, and ensure compliance with financial policies while liaising with the US-based global finance team.
Finance Officer (Australia; Full time – Remote)
The Finance Officer is IEEFA Australia's primary in-country finance professional, responsible for day-to-day financial operations, external vendor coordination, and ensuring consistent implementation of financial policies and procedures. IEEFA Australia outsources its core accounting and payroll functions to an external firm (currently Accounting for Good) and is establishing its first Employer of Record (EOR) service for international staff, primarily in Asia.
This role liaises with the US-based Finance team to ensure consistent coding, reporting, and financial controls across entities. The Finance Officer works closely with the Australia-based CEO and Operations Manager, and reports to the US-based Global Finance Manager.
This is a remote position, based anywhere in Australia with opportunities to travel for in-person meetings and events.
IEEFA is an NGO/not-for-profit that researches and analyses financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends, and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 90+ analysts and communications personnel located in 16 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research and ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries. Established in 2021, IEEFA Australia is a subsidiary of the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (headquartered in the US). Both entities are primarily funded by public, private and family foundations based in the US, Australia and other countries. IEEFA Australia is a registered ACNC charity with DGR Status as of 1 January 2025.

Compensation and Benefits
Full-time employment contract with remuneration $115,992 - $139,980 AUD base, plus super. Pay rates are also based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity.

Work Schedule
Full-time, 38 hours/week. Due to required collaboration with the US Finance team and international colleagues, the schedule will include some early morning and occasional evening hours. Time off will be provided elsewhere in the schedule to compensate.
Location and Travel
The Finance Officer, Australia will work remotely and may be based anywhere in Australia. Some travel is required. Attendance is required at team retreats two to four times a year, some in Australia and some internationally.
Physical Demand and Work Environment.
Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back and neck strain.
