Finance Assistant

Role Overview

• Salary: £30,000 per annum pro rata
• Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week, flexibility in whether this is worked over 3,4 or 5 days)
• Contract Type: 6-month fixed term contract
• Location: Edinburgh office (Hybrid or fully Remote within the UK)
• Reports To: Finance Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive
Finance Assistant to join our small, dynamic finance team for a 6-month fixed term contract. There is the possibility this position could become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will support our daily financial operations and assist the Finance Manager with month-end processes. Your main tasks will include:

• Ledger Management: Managing the purchase ledger and processing supplier invoices accurately.
• Month-End Support: Supporting the preparation of monthly accounts, including processing accruals, prepayments, deferred/accrued revenue calculations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reconciliations: Reconciling customer payments efficiently within Xero.
• Invoicing: Creating and managing customer invoices using our billing platform, Stripe.
• Credit Control: Conducting proactive credit control and cash collection activities to ensure healthy cash flow.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor your style to different audiences.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and financial task execution.
• Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan ahead, work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Deadline-Driven: Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight month-end deadlines without compromising on accuracy.
  
  

Desirable 

• Hands-on experience using Xero and/or Stripe.
• Prior experience working within a small, agile accounts or finance team.
