Position Summary
The PGS Field Support & Solutions Specialist helps commercial growers successfully process, incorporate, and optimize HydraFiber products within their production systems. This includes supporting new equipment installations, commissioning and startup activities, equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and ongoing process optimization.
The ideal candidate combines mechanical aptitude, commercial horticulture knowledge, initiative, and a consultative sales mindset. While onsite, this individual will identify opportunities to increase HydraFiber utilization and introduce additional Profile Growing Solutions that create measurable value for the customer.
The Specialist will also serve as a technical resource to the sales team by supporting customer visits, trials, opportunity development, and follow-up activities. This individual will translate technical observations into practical recommendations and qualified growth opportunities that strengthen customer relationships and strengthen Profile’s position in the market.
Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment and Process Support
· Train customer personnel on the safe and effective operation of HydraFiber processing equipment.
· Provide equipment installation, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and post-installation support.
· Assist growers with equipment and process adjustments needed for consistent mixing, conveying, and container filling.
· Verify that equipment settings and production practices support targeted HydraFiber inclusion rates.
· Help customers establish standard operating procedures for equipment operation, maintenance, cleaning, and quality control.
· Serve as a primary point of contact for HydraFiber equipment and processing questions.
Horticultural Production Support
· Support sales & marketing team to achieve long term PGS initiatives
· Understand the customer’s growing-media formulations, crops, container sizes, irrigation practices, fertility programs, and production goals to identify value creation opportunities.
· Assist with customer trials, sample collection, and production evaluations.
· Work with Profile’s technical team when additional crop or substrate support is needed.
Customer Value and Commercial Support
· Evaluate the customer’s broader production process to identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve labor efficiency, increase throughput, or improve crop consistency.
· Review other products being used, including peat, coir, fertilizers, amendments, and propagation products.
· Identify opportunities to increase HydraFiber usage or introduce other Profile Growing Solutions. Communicate to sales team.
· Ask consultative questions to understand customer challenges, costs, purchasing priorities, and future plans.
· Communicate qualified opportunities to the appropriate RBMs and assist with technical follow-up.
Customer and Internal Collaboration
· Build strong relationships with equipment operators, growers, and production managers.
· Collaborate with PGS sales, technical, operations, and R&D teams.
· Coordinate with equipment partners during installations, troubleshooting, and process-improvement projects.
· Share customer feedback, competitive information, production observations, and growth opportunities with internal teams.
Reporting and Follow-Up
· Document customer visits, equipment status, inclusion rates, recommendations, technical issues, and commercial opportunities.
· Complete customer-engagement reports and CRM updates in a timely manner.
· Clearly communicate follow-up actions, responsible parties, and expected timelines.
· Track customer issues and recommendations through completion.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
· Two or more years of commercial horticulture, growing-media, greenhouse, nursery, agricultural-equipment, or mechanized-production experience preferred.
· Experience with growing-media mixing, conveying, container filling, irrigation, fertility, or greenhouse and nursery production is highly desirable.
· Technical sales, customer-success, or consultative account-support experience is a plus.
· Equivalent education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
Qualifications
· Strong mechanical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
· Working knowledge of commercial horticulture production and growing-media systems.
· Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
· Natural curiosity and the ability to identify needs beyond the immediate equipment issue.
· Consultative mindset with an interest in sales and customer value creation.
· Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to communicate technical information in practical, understandable terms.
· Ability to manage multiple customer projects and follow-up activities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
· Ability to travel approximately 60% of the time.
· Bilingual English and Spanish skills preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to operate and make adjustments to production equipment and machine controls.
· Work may be performed in loud, dusty, wet, hot, or cold commercial-production environments.
· The position may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week, overnight travel, or work outside normal business hours.
