Overview

The Compliance Manager works with the operational and clinical staff in all lines of business (Home Health, Hospice and Personal Care). The primary function of this position shall be to monitor and support observance of compliance standards, policy and regulatory requirements. May assist with the design and implementation of corrective actions through observing and participating in functional committee meetings, conducting preliminary investigations and fact finding, examining medical records and business unit reports and by interacting directly with field personnel.


Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations of compliance issues that arise through the compliance hotline, exit interviews, direct referrals or based on personal observation. Creates reports supporting compliance investigations.
  • Interviews individuals who are potential witnesses to compliance violations or who have knowledge or information relevant to compliance investigations including current and former employees and third parties.
  • Conducts audits and reviews of clinical records, business records and other documentation relevant to compliance investigations.
  • Serves as a liaison with other investigative resources as needed. Collaborates effectively with internal and external department staff including legal counsel to investigate compliance issues.
  • Assists with the monitoring of Compliance hotline. Multi-task and prioritize multiple compliance investigations and ensure that corrective action plans/mitigation plans are fully implemented.
  • Supports compliance audits with special emphasis on Risk Mitigation Audits ("RMA") audits including remedial education and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Provides educational support to staff based on identified compliance issues and key compliance risk areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, employees, integrity issues, audits and other information. Interfaces with patients and/or legally responsible parties in response to adverse clinical events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with (2-6) years' experience in healthcare compliance or related field. Experience performing investigations, required.
  • Degree in nursing, therapy or a related field and knowledge of laws and regulations in the area of compliance, in particular, home health and hospice regulations, preferred.
  • Certification in healthcare compliance ("CHC") preferred.
