Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer

Ciklum is looking for an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer to join our team full-time in Romania.

About the role:

As an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

In this role, you will operate as an Expert AI Engineer, fully integrated into our partner's technical ecosystem. You will architect, build, and scale the internal AI platform and infrastructure designed for both software developers and non-technical teams across the business.

Rather than focusing on a single framework or programming language, this role is evaluated on your hands-on experience building and shipping production AI tooling, including custom skills, MCP connectors, and autonomous agent workflows. You will combine this delivery focus with sharp security judgment around credential handling, least privilege access, and prompt injection defense to drive safe, company-wide AI adoption.

Responsibilities:

• AI Tooling & Platform Delivery: Build, ship, and host internal AI platforms, custom skills, MCP connectors, and agentic workflows accessible to both developers and non-developers across the company
• Host Infrastructure: Architect and manage scalable cloud hosting environments to support internal AI tools, model integrations, and regular automated execution pipelines
• AI Security & Risk Mitigation: Apply rigorous security judgment across all AI systems, implementing robust credential management, strict least privilege authorization, and defenses against prompt injection and data leaks
• Agentic Execution & Automation: Design resilient multi-agent execution loops, integration layers, and orchestration pipelines that automate complex business and engineering tasks
• AI FinOps & Governance: Implement token cost controls (semantic caching, model routing) and define internal AI governance standards, security policies, and quality benchmarks
• Organizational Transformation: Coach cross-functional teams on AI adoption, optimize engineering workflows for an AI-first era, and establish metrics to measure the quantitative impact of AI on development velocity and delivery quality

Requirements:

• Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience with a strong background in backend architectures and system design
• Proficiency in any modern backend-focused programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Java)—proven hands-on delivery in the AI enablement space matters far more than mastery of a specific language
• Hands-on AI Tooling Delivery: Proven track record of building, shipping, and maintaining production AI tooling, including MCP connectors, custom skills, and agentic workflows
• Security Judgment: Deep practical understanding of AI security risks, including secure credential handling, least privilege access controls, and prompt injection mitigation
• AI Hosting & Infrastructure: Practical experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to host internal AI tools, model endpoints, and automation workflows
• Enablement & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to guide engineering teams through AI adoption, optimize team processes, and align AI initiatives with business outcomes
• Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills with C2/Native-level English fluency

Desirable:

• Experience optimizing LLM usage costs through semantic caching, rate-limiting, and cost-aware model routing
• Familiarity with modern AI standards, MCP, and frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• Experience with Docker, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools (Datadog, ELK stack)
