Overview
Graham Packaging is seeking an experienced Program Manager who will direct, coordinate, and lead the planning, organization, facilitation, and delivery if enterprise-wide programs and complex projects that support strategic business objectives. He/she will oversee multiple related projects within a program, establishing and ensuring program governance, cross-functional team alignment, and adherence to program commitments. The role will also have direct project management responsibility for leading complex, enterprise-wide projects from initiation through closure. This role requires a strong ability to work across business functions, geographies, and organizational levels to drive alignment, remove barriers, and ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
This position will allow for remote (at home) work opportunity but requires that the ideal candidate be located near a major airport on the East Coast. Preference will be given to candidates within 50 miles of York or Harrisburg metro areas.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include:
- Program management for a portfolio of related projects, including:
- Translating business objectives, customer commitments, and other applicable requirements into integrated programs that enable delivery of tangible business outcomes
- Developing and maintaining program plans to align interdependent project schedules, milestones, dependencies, resources, budgets, benefits, and deliverables
- Establishing and maintaining program governance, decision-making forums, and operating rhythms to drive coordinated execution among cross-functional teams, business leaders, customers, and other stakeholders
- Anticipating and resolving cross-project conflicts, resource constraints, risks, and issues that require enterprise-level coordination or leadership decisions
- Providing regular program updates to sponsors, stakeholders, and senior leaders to ensure clear communication of status, progress, risks, decisions, and escalations
- Direct project management of complex projects, including:
- Utilizing project management discipline & tools to develop and maintain project plans, documentation, and change controls; manage scope to ensure delivery of the business case
- Driving aligned execution across the project team, including but not limited to schedule adherence, task prioritization, dependency management, mitigation planning, and milestone completion
- Effectively maintaining budget control, including active tracking and monitoring as well as identifying efficiencies and pursuing cost savings opportunities where appropriate
- Communicating project status, progress, risk, and decision reports to sponsors and stakeholders; proactively escalate issues, risks, and resource needs
- Change management for enterprise-wide programs, projects, and governance changes, including:
- Supporting change management activities aligned with enterprise projects and programs, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training, adoption planning, and change readiness assessment
- Partnering with project teams and business leaders to ensure organizational readiness is built into project and program delivery to enable smooth transition and sustained business adoption
- Travel 15-25%, dependent upon candidate location
Qualifications

- Enterprise program leadership – demonstrated ability to establish governance, align multiple projects to strategic objectives, and drive measurable business outcomes
- Advanced application of program and project management principles, methods, and controls across complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Demonstrated experience developing integrated program roadmaps, project scopes, budgets, timelines, dependencies, resource plans, and executive-level reporting using Microsoft Project or equivalent tools
- Demonstrated experience leading change management initiatives or initiatives with significant change impact;
- Strong facilitation, influence, negotiation, written communication, and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
- Ability to lead geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams through ambiguity, competing priorities, organizational change, and complex decision-making
- Execution-driven and strategic mindset; sets clear, ambitious goals, builds accountability, removes barriers, and achieves enterprise-wide results
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred; alternate project or program management certification or equivalent experience acceptable
- Change Management certification (ProSci or similar) preferred, with willingness to pursue certification acceptable
- 8 or more years of progressively responsible program and project management experience, including direct leadership of complex enterprise-wide projects
- Demonstrated experience facilitating multiple related projects within a program and coordinating geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams, sponsors, vendors, and stakeholders
- Experience managing integrated plans, budgets, resources, risks, dependencies, organizational change, and executive communications for large-scale business, operations, manufacturing, technology, or capital initiatives
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred; sufficient technical and business acumen to lead subject-matter experts and evaluate enterprise-level tradeoffs is highly desirable
The standard compensation for this role is $109,700 - $164,600. Salary offers will be determined based on final candidate qualifications, experience, skillset, and other relevant factors.
