AI-Driven Engineering Culture

AI is embedded into our engineering workflows, from system design and prototyping to refactoring, testing, and code review. We expect engineers to be fully comfortable working in AI-driven environments and to treat AI as a primary productivity multiplier. Strong engineering judgment, architectural ownership, and accountability remain essential—AI amplifies our engineers, it doesn’t replace responsibility for technical decisions.

The role

B2Spin is looking for a Java Engineering Manager to lead our Data Activation teams as we scale our Free-to-Play Social Casino platform. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance technical credibility with people development — driving reliable delivery, raising engineering standards, and building the conditions for teams to do their best work. If you're motivated by building high-load, real-time systems and developing the people who build them, this role is for you.

What you'll do

• Own delivery outcomes — coordinate priorities across cross-functional teams, keep commitments on track, and ensure the right things get built reliably and on time

• Develop your people — run meaningful performance reviews, invest in career growth, and handle people challenges with clarity and care

• Champion engineering standards — hold the bar on architecture patterns and code quality while making pragmatic trade-off decisions in complex, fast-moving environments

• Enable smooth execution — partner with Product Managers, analysts and other stakeholders to ensure initiatives are well-defined and teams can move without blockers

• Drive continuous improvement — refine how teams plan and coordinate as the organisation grows, making effectiveness a habit rather than a project

• Strengthen platform reliability — lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-through on improvements that make systems more resilient over time

What we're looking for

• Substantial backend engineering experience with deep expertise in the Java ecosystem and a strong foundation in software development fundamentals. Frontend experience is a big plus.

• System design fluency — proven experience building and operating high-load, event-driven, cloud-native systems at scale

• Engineering leadership track record — experience leading teams delivering complex production systems, balancing technical direction with people management

• Production operations experience — comfortable in incident response, post-mortems, and translating learnings into platform improvements

• Sharp product sense — able to engage meaningfully with product initiatives, surface engineering risks, and spot what's missing before it becomes a problem

• Delivery ownership — skilled at scoping work realistically, aligning stakeholders, and communicating trade-offs with confidence

Nice to have:

• Background in iGaming, fintech, or other high-throughput, real-time platforms

• Experience making the transition from a senior IC role (Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal, or Solution Architect) into people leadership

• Hands-on familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, or GCP
