Meet The Team 👥

Here at Cleo, we have ~200 Engineers organised into Pillars. ✨ Our stack spans a Ruby on Rails monolith, a single React Native (TypeScript) app frontend, Python for machine learning services, and PostgreSQL, all hosted on AWS and shipped through Kubernetes - backend goes out multiple times a week, app releases to Google and Apple at least weekly. To thrive here, our engineers proactively use our Engineering Principles to guide daily decisions, take ownership of problems beyond their own squad to drive broader impact, and actively drive their own learning, development, and growth.

About the role ✍️

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple product squads. You’ll partner closely with Product and technical leadership to drive delivery, team health and longer-term strategy.

• Lead, coach and develop engineers across multiple squads, creating an environment where people can grow and do their best work

• Own team health, performance and engagement through regular 1:1s, clear feedback and development conversations

• Partner with Product Managers, Tech Leads, TLMs and Staff Engineers to shape priorities, planning and strategy

• Own delivery and outcomes across your squads, keeping teams focused on the highest-impact work and removing blockers

• Translate broader company and product priorities into clear goals and direction for your teams

• Enable strong technical decision-making across our Ruby on Rails environment, empowering senior engineers while upholding our engineering principles and standards

• Hire and retain great engineers, building healthy, inclusive and high-performing teams

• Improve how teams work together, navigating dependencies and strengthening collaboration across Engineering, Product and other disciplines

What we're looking for 🕵️

• Strong experience leading and developing engineering teams, including performance, growth and engagement

• Solid experience with Ruby on Rails and the technical depth to effectively lead engineers in a production Rails environment

• Experience owning delivery and outcomes across multiple squads, balancing immediate priorities with longer-term strategy

• A track record of hiring, coaching and developing engineers at different stages of their careers

• Strong technical judgement and the ability to enable great technical decisions without needing to make every technical call yourself

• Experience partnering with Product and technical leadership to align on priorities, direction and delivery

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to create alignment and unblock teams

• A track record of building healthy, inclusive and high-performing teams
