About the Role

The Employee Relations Manager is a trusted advisor to managers and employees on workplace conduct, conflict, and compliance. You'll own an end-to-end employee relations caseload: coaching leaders through complex people issues, leading impartial investigations, and helping ensure our policies and practices are fair and consistent to promote a positive workplace culture. 

What You'll Be Doing

Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary contact for employee relations matters, managing complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary issues from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations; document findings and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Advise employees and managers on interpreting and applying company policies, procedures, and applicable employment law, with guidance from the employment legal team.
  • Lead or contribute to organization-wide employee relations programs and initiatives, including organizational change, redundancy, and transformation activity involving multiple stakeholders.

Manager Coaching and Guidance

  • Coach people managers through performance management, progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, and difficult conversations.
  • Partner with People Partners and leadership to resolve complex, escalated, or sensitive employee issues.
  • Build manager capability through proactive guidance and training.

Policy, Compliance, and Risk

  • Working with Legal, help ensure compliance with applicable local employment laws and regulations, monitoring legislative changes and updating policies and practices accordingly.
  • Develop, review, and revise People policies and employee relations procedures.
  • Partner with Legal and outside employment counsel on high-risk matters.
  • Manage terminations, offboarding, and reductions in force in a legally compliant, consistent, and respectful way.

Mediation, Insights, and Improvement

  • Facilitate mediation and conflict-resolution sessions between individuals or teams, working toward durable and fair outcomes.
  • Identify and address interpersonal or cultural issues before they escalate.
  • Track, analyze, and report on employee relations trends, metrics, and case outcomes; identify root causes and recommend proactive interventions.
  • Design and deliver training for managers and employees on anti-harassment, code of conduct, respectful workplace, and investigation best practices in partnership with the Compliance team.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.

  • You have strong business and people acumen, with consulting, conflict-resolution, and facilitation skills across diverse cultural contexts.
  • You can lead, influence, and partner at all levels of the organization while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • You communicate clearly and inclusively, explaining complex issues, influencing decisions, and supporting others through challenging topics.
  • You exercise sound judgment, balancing colleague experience, organizational impact, and risk.
  • You can manage multiple priorities in complex settings and engage constructively with differing views.

The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and/or commission programs. Nscale may offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan participation.

Salary Range
$150,000$260,000 USD
