The Editor will join Pillar4 Media's fast-growing Health team and support one of the company's strategic partners. This role is responsible for editing dynamic product reviews, roundups, informational stories, and related materials that help consumers make informed purchasing decisions. The Editor will be responsible for ensuring content is authentic, engaging, informative, accurate, and optimized for search.
The Editor will work cross-functionally with editorial, SEO, internal stakeholders, external partners, staff writers, freelancers, subject-matter experts, medical reviewers, and fact checkers across multiple health-related categories.

What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director of Content, the Editor will:
Editorial Strategy and Content Production
- Support editorial calendar content production, including editing in-depth product reviews optimized for SEO across various wellness categories.
- Transform early-stage drafts into polished finished products.
- Strategize, coordinate, and workshop content with editorial and SEO teams to ensure it is authentic, engaging, informative, and optimized for search.
- Develop a deep understanding of the features and benefits of the products reviewed and how those products are tested.
- Apply strong editorial judgment and creative strategic thinking to improve content quality, usefulness, and performance.
- Treat each content piece with an ownership mentality and stand behind every word.
Editorial Quality, SEO, and Conversion Optimization
- Uphold high standards for editorial excellence and implement SEO and conversion-rate optimization best practices.
- Balance SEO requirements with readability, editorial integrity, brand voice, and consumer usefulness.
- Ensure each piece is optimized, targeted to meet marketing goals, and delivered on time.
- Use testing data to help shape product-review content.
- Apply exceptional attention to detail while balancing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- Quickly develop expertise in subject matter that may be unfamiliar.
- Flag unsupported claims, potentially misleading language, or information requiring additional review.
- Follow AP style, internal editorial guidelines, partner-specific requirements, and established content standards.
- Help prioritize assignments based on audience value, publishing deadlines, partner commitments, revenue opportunity, and editorial strategy.
Team and Contributor Management
- Recruit and manage a stable of freelance subject-matter expert writers, medical reviewers, fact checkers, and industry experts.
- Manage staff writers and freelancers while providing clear direction, communication, regular feedback and follow-through.
- Coach internal team members and contractors to uphold editorial, SEO, quality, and deadline standards.
- Build the team by supporting collaboration and strong working relationships across internal and external contributors.
- Own the development of internal documentation, such as editing and QA checklists
Stakeholder Relationships and External Partnerships
- Serve as a trusted day-to-day editorial partner to assigned external stakeholders.
- Develop a strong understanding of the external partner's preferred voice, style, audience, content goals, terminology, and brand requirements.
- Edit stories and related materials in a manner that reflects the partner's established content preferences while maintaining internal editorial and quality standards.
- Build productive, professional relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, reliability, and thoughtful expectation management.
- Translate partner feedback and business priorities into actionable editorial direction.
- Ask clarifying questions, identify potential misalignment early, and confirm expectations before significant content development begins.
- Manage feedback from multiple internal and external stakeholders while maintaining clarity regarding editorial standards, deadlines, and final deliverables.
- Partner with writers and external editors to reconcile differences between partner preferences, audience needs, SEO recommendations, and internal editorial requirements.
- Provide appropriate visibility into content status, open questions, dependencies, and delivery risks.
- Participate in partner meetings, editorial planning discussions, content reviews, and performance conversations as needed.
Publishing and CMS Management
- Understand how to format and publish content in the organization's content management system as needed.
- Maintain working familiarity with common CMS platforms, including WordPress and Adobe Experience Management.
- Ensure content is partner-ready and meets applicable voice, formatting, editorial, and optimization requirements before publication.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field preferred.At least 5 years of digital editing or content-production experience, preferably in the health content space.
- Experience leading editorial assignments or projects from initial planning through publication.
- Experience working with editors, SEO professionals, revenue teams, medical reviewers, subject-matter experts, or external business partners.
- Familiarity working alongside a team of fact checkers and medical reviewers to ensure 100% content accuracy.
- Strong working knowledge of AP style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, shifting priorities, and overlapping deadlines.
- Deep background in and passion for editing and editorial strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time-management skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while working independently.
- Openness to feedback and collaboration with multiple internal and external teams
- Experience developing content directly for an external brand, client, advertiser, or strategic partner.
- Familiarity with affiliate commerce, lead-generation content, product comparison methodologies, or conversion-focused publishing.
- Experience participating in product testing or developing standardized testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with digital analytics, content-performance metrics, keyword-research tools, or SEO platforms.
- Experience working in a fast-paced digital media, publishing, agency, or portfolio-brand environment.
- Familiarity with regulated, medically sensitive, or consumer-trust-focused content categories.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing editorial feedback to other editors.
