Draftsperson (ArchiCAD) - Work From Home

We are looking for a skilled Residential Draftsperson to join our team and help bring high-quality home designs to life. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of residential projects while collaborating with experienced professionals in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

• Prepare residential drawings and construction documentation using ArchiCAD.
• Produce initial concepts, tender drawings, preliminary plans and final contract plans.
• Prepare documentation for development applications, developer approvals and building permit submissions.
• Incorporate client variations, selections and upgrades into residential plans.
• Review and incorporate soil reports, survey information and finished floor-level requirements.
• Adapt standard double-storey housing models to individual blocks and site conditions.
• Review each project for compliance with applicable planning, building and Small Lot Housing Code requirements.
• Assess site-specific considerations, including front and side setbacks, building heights and other development controls.
• Ensure compliance requirements are addressed throughout the complete drawing and construction lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for information from building surveyors and other stakeholders during the building permit process.
• Amend plans following internal reviews, consultant input, authority feedback and permit requirements.
• Identify potential design, documentation and compliance issues and escalate complex or ambiguous matters appropriately.
• Coordinate with internal drafting, estimating, development and construction teams.
• Manage daily drafting allocations according to project priorities, team capacity and required timeframes.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions, records and supporting documentation.
• Follow established drafting standards, templates and quality-control procedures.
• Support and share technical knowledge with less-experienced drafting team members where appropriate.
• Other position-level duties as they arise.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification in architecture, building design, architectural drafting or a related discipline.
• Australian residential drafting experience
• Strong proficiency in ArchiCAD
• Previous volume-building and/or medium-density residential experience
• Sound understanding of the Small Lot Housing Code and its application to residential projects.
• Experience preparing documentation across the residential production lifecycle, including tender, preliminary, contract and building permit plans.
• Ability to interpret and incorporate architectural requirements, surveys, soil reports, engineering information and planning controls.
• Strong understanding of Australian residential construction methods, terminology and documentation standards.
• Victorian residential drafting experience is highly regarded, although relevant experience in other Australian states, including New South Wales or Western Australia, will be considered.
• Ability to apply standard housing models efficiently while exercising sound judgement regarding individual sites.
• Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to identify compliance or documentation issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a distributed drafting team.
• Ability to work independently within an established production process and escalate more complex design matters appropriately.
