The draftsperson will design and assist with architectural projects from concept to completion, including creating detailed plans and 3D renderings. They are also responsible for managing project timelines, coordinating with the team, and ensuring all designs comply with building codes and regulations.
Responsibilities
Key Duties and Accountabilities:
• Design and assist with architectural projects from concept through to completion, developing and presenting detailed plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Create and revise design plans, sections, elevations, and details as required.
• Review drawings and documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission,
implementing feedback from senior staff to improve design quality.
• Provide innovative and sustainable design solutions tailored to client needs, ensuring compliance with local building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in all drawings and documentation to prevent errors during
construction.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and inform design decisions, ensuring designs comply with relevant planning schemes and zoning regulations.
• Learn and apply knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards, including AS1428.1 for access and mobility.
• Gain proficiency in commercial and industrial design documentation and practices.
• Use architectural software proficiently for project design and management.
• Create high-quality
3D renderings for projects and marketing.
• Prepare and submit development applications and building permits.
•Coordinate with the team to meet project requirements and facilitate effective communication.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy in all drawings and documentation.
• Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and materials.
• Support the training of new employees to help them integrate into the team and understand company practices.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of company procedures and systems.
• Perform office administration tasks including answering the office phone, preparing documents, researching materials and council guidelines.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in residential, commercial, and industrial design.
• Actively seek feedback and engage in self-assessment for continuous improvement in design practices and project management.

Requirements
Qualifications, Licenses Clearances:
• Diploma of Building Design or Degree in Architecture.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design and documentation on Australian Commercial projects including offices, showrooms, warehouses and workshops.
• Proficiency in architectural software such as ArchiCAD, Twin-motion, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong knowledge of Australian building codes (NCC/BCA) and
Australian Standards.
