The Opportunity

As a Disability Case Manager Consultant, you are a Self-Employed sub-contractor with excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide services in Canada. We employ a "holistic outcomes" approach in all of our services and to uncover the underlying drivers that are at the root of unnecessary or prolonged absence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You will develop, communicate, and implement proactive case management plans, including collaborating on and developing RTW plans.
  • You will identify suitable rehabilitation referrals as required, in keeping with employer disability and absence policies and costing.
  • You will identify and utilize external and internal resources to progress a claim to resolution, with a focus on function and gainful employment, and collaborate with healthcare providers and physicians through written or verbal communication based on the needs of the claim.
  • You will demonstrate awareness to identify when rehab intervention may be suitable for a claim, including a general understanding of rehabilitation and vocational tools that may be applied.
  • You will serve as an expert in claims management resources for clients and their internal business units.
  • You will engage in professional interaction with all stakeholders on a regular basis, including timely and efficient follow-up to telephone and email communication.
  • You will adhere to entering accurate billing, including meeting monthly billing submission deadlines on applicable claims.
  • You will provide timely, detailed documentation to ensure progression of the claim.
  • You will attend team scrums and meetings and offer support and coverage to other team members as needed.

What You Bring to the Team

  • You have 1-2 years of progressive disability management experience. Experience with long- or short-term disability insurance is considered an asset.
  • You have familiarity with medical terminology and disability contract language.
  • You hold a related post-secondary degree (i.e. Kinesiology, Psychology, Social Work or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • You have comprehensive knowledge of STD/LTD policies and Group Plans.
  • You have strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and are able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.
  • A relevant post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, or Physical Therapy is an asset.
  • Good standing relationship with an associated regulatory body (i.e. BCAK, CAOT-BC, etc.) and/or membership with the Vocational Rehabilitation Association (VRA) of Canada is an asset.

What You'll Get

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Flexible working arrangement.
  • You will receive training, ongoing development, and support.
  • Work in an engaging team environment.
