The Director of Parcel Portfolio Strategy is responsible for driving margin expansion, pricing architecture, and portfolio optimization across a $100M+ parcel portfolio. This role leads performance oversight, client retention strategies, and executive-level business reviews to ensure profitability and service excellence.
Director of Parcel Portfolio Strategy & Client Performance
Role Summary
The Director of Parcel Portfolio Strategy & Client Performance is a senior, executive-facing leader responsible for driving margin expansion, pricing architecture, portfolio optimization, and client retention across a $100M+ parcel portfolio.
This role directly protects and grows the company’s top line by strengthening pricing integrity, portfolio leverage, and client value delivery.
Core Accountabilities _ Parcel Portfolio Strategy
Own and evolve the company’s parcel portfolio strategy to drive margin, service excellence, and defensible competitive advantage.
Define and optimize carrier mix strategy (national, regional, and alternative carriers)
Lead zone-skipping and injection strategy development
Develop and scale international parcel programs
Conduct network design audits across the client portfolio to ensure optimal carrier and node mix
Continuously evaluate cost, speed, reliability, and CX trade-offs across client profiles
Identify systemic margin leakage and implement structural corrections
Develop portfolio-wide strategic initiatives to strengthen retention and differentiation
Business Modeling & Commercial Architecture
Own pricing strategy integrity and commercial modeling across new and existing clients
Lead pre-sales solution design for transportation pricing models aligned with pricing strategy and margin targets
Build and govern cost-to-serve models across Parcel, LTL, and FTL
Develop and enforce margin strategy and pricing guardrails
Define standardized savings attribution methodology
Ensure onboarding pricing accuracy and scope integrity aligned to each client’s B2C and B2B profile
Conduct scenario simulations to determine optimal carrier mix and service architecture
Analyze shipment profiles (zones, dimensional weight exposure, accessorial risk, delivery density) and translate insights into margin and CX improvement actions
Develop accurate cost models for deal pricing and protect against post-launch credits due to poor scope
Client Performance & Governance
Lead performance oversight across the parcel portfolio to ensure profitability, SLA adherence, and value realization
Own executive-level Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and strategic client performance discussions
Oversee account-level profitability analysis and corrective action planning
Support Sales in pre-contract modeling and strategic deal shaping
Deliver executive storytelling that clearly communicates value delivered
Lead escalation management for high-impact client issues
Drive parcel retention strategy and early risk identification processes
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead and develop a high-performing team
Establish modeling standards, documentation protocols, and pricing review discipline
Promote data-driven decision-making
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in parcel strategy for e-commerce businesses
Experience managing a $100M+ parcel portfolio
Advanced financial modeling expertise (transportation cost modeling, scenario simulation, margin analysis)
Strong P&L ownership and commercial acumen
Executive client-facing experience
Deep knowledge of carrier pricing structures
Experience designing pricing guardrails and margin governance frameworks
Proven ability to influence Sales, Finance, and Operations leaders
Strong escalation management and executive communication skills
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position that supports multi-site transportation and logistics operations across various warehouse locations. The role requires frequent virtual collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Customer Service, Inventory Control, and external partners such as carriers and vendors.
The position operates in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deliverables and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. While remote, the role may require flexibility to support different time zones, extended hours during peak shipping periods, and participation in early morning or late afternoon meetings as needed to support business operations.
