Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Services serves as the senior clinical leader for Virtual Peace of Mind and is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, quality assurance, and successful delivery of all clinical services across the organization. This executive leadership position provides direction for clinical operations, workforce development, clinical education and apprenticeship programming, program implementation, and clinical compliance while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services across all programs and service lines.
The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for leading clinical teams, strengthening relationships with school districts and other strategic partners, overseeing the successful implementation of organizational initiatives, and ensuring that clinical services align with the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Virtual Peace of Mind. The Director collaborates closely with executive leadership to develop scalable clinical systems that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and exceptional client outcomes. A primary responsibility of this position is designing and building the infrastructure for Virtual Peace of Mind’s 16-month clinical apprenticeship program, including its weekly curriculum, learning objectives, competencies, training activities, evaluation tools, and implementation standards.
Serving as the CEO's designee for clinical operations, the Director assumes primary responsibility for the day-to-day oversight of clinical services, clinical personnel, and implementation activities, allowing the CEO to focus on organizational strategy, statewide
expansion, business development, grants, and executive partnerships.
This position requires a seasoned behavioral health executive with demonstrated experience directing clinical services, leading multidisciplinary teams, implementing large-scale programs, and building strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate possesses strong operational leadership skills, excellent relationship management abilities, and a proven record of improving clinical quality, organizational performance, and program outcomes.
Clinical Leadership & Quality
The Director of Clinical Services provides executive leadership for all clinical service delivery across Virtual Peace of Mind. This includes establishing and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements, promoting evidence-based practices, and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement. The Director is responsible for ensuring that clinical services are delivered consistently, effectively, and in alignment with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Education, Workforce Development & Apprenticeship
The Director of Clinical Services has primary executive responsibility for designing, building, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving Virtual Peace of Mind’s clinical education, apprenticeship, and workforce development infrastructure. This includes developing a comprehensive apprenticeship program that prepares future behavioral health professionals through a structured, competency-based learning experience. The Director will establish the educational infrastructure, curriculum, training standards, supervision model, and evaluation framework necessary to support clinician development and long-term workforce sustainability.

During the initial curriculum-development period, the Director is expected to demonstrate measurable weekly progress toward completion of the 16-month apprenticeship framework in accordance with an approved project plan and implementation timeline.
Clinical Operations & Workforce Performance
The Director of Clinical Services oversees the operational management of all clinical programs, ensuring appropriate staffing, efficient workflows, and effective resource utilization. Working collaboratively with administrative leadership, the Director develops systems that support sustainable growth while maintaining exceptional service delivery. This role is responsible for maintaining a high-performing clinical workforce, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that staffing capacity, clinician productivity, supervision, and service delivery support the organization’s current and future needs.

Strategic Partnerships & Program Implementation
The Director of Clinical Services serves as the organization's senior clinical representative in cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships that support the delivery and expansion of behavioral health services. This includes collaborating with school districts, healthcare organizations, government agencies, referral partners, and other stakeholders to ensure successful program implementation and long-term partnership success. The Director plays a critical role in representing Virtual Peace of Mind's clinical expertise while supporting organizational growth and innovation.

Executive Leadership & Organizational Strategy
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Clinical Services contributes to organizational planning, strategic decision-making, and long-term growth initiatives. The Director collaborates with the CEO to develop scalable clinical systems, strengthen organizational performance, and ensure that clinical operations align with the overall vision and direction of Virtual Peace of Mind.

Authority & Decision-Making
The Director of Clinical Services is authorized to make day-to-day clinical and operational decisions necessary to ensure effective service delivery, workforce performance, program implementation, clinical quality, and partnership responsiveness. The Director exercises independent judgment in supervising clinical personnel, resolving routine operational concerns, implementing approved initiatives, establishing clinical workflows, and directing assigned resources. Decisions involving contract execution, unapproved financial
commitments, executive compensation, significant organizational restructuring, enterprise-wide policy changes, or other matters reserved for ownership remain subject to approval by the Chief Executive Officer.

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for cultivating a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous professional growth. Through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development, the Director builds organizational capacity by developing future leaders and fostering an environment that supports employee engagement, innovation, and exceptional client care.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Licensure
Current unrestricted professional license in Virginia (LPC, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, LMFT, or equivalent).
Clinical Supervision Qualification
Must meet applicable Virginia requirements to provide or become approved to provide clinical supervision to residents or supervisees in the candidate’s professional discipline. Board-approved supervisor status at the time of hire is required.
