Primary Function

The Director of Business Operations provides strategic business leadership and cross-functional coordination in support of the growth, development, implementation, and performance of the Occupational Health Services business line.

Reporting to the Vice President & Business Line Lead, the Director works across business development, capture, pricing, exam operations, provider network operations, clinical leadership, technology, finance, contracts, compliance, and quality to translate customer requirements and market opportunities into executable, scalable, and financially sound business solutions.

The role supports pipeline development, opportunity qualification, capture, proposal development, pricing, implementation planning, technology enablement, performance analysis, recompetes, on contract growth, and customer expansion.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity International is recognized. Duties and Responsibilities

Business Strategy, Pipeline, and Customer Growth

  • Partner with the Vice President & Business Line - Lead to advance the strategy, growth priorities, operating plans, and capability roadmap of the Occupational Health Services business line.
  • Assess customer needs, market opportunities, internal capabilities, resource requirements, and business risks to inform planning and investment decisions.
  • Influence provider network strategies by aligning customer access requirements, geographic coverage, service capabilities, cost considerations, and implementation needs with the broader business solution.
  • Identify opportunities for new services, market expansion, strategic partnerships, customer retention, and organic growth, and develop recommendations and business cases supporting related priorities and investments.
  • Partner with business development, capture, account leadership, and functional teams to develop, qualify, shape, and advance the Occupational Health Services opportunity pipeline.
  • Participate in pipeline reviews, account planning, bid/no-bid decisions, capture planning, customer engagement, and growth forecasting.
  • Support early opportunity development through operating concepts, capability presentations, white papers, solution recommendations, and preliminary implementation approaches.
  • Identify customer needs and expansion opportunities that support recompetes, contract renewals, additional services, and adjacent growth.

Proposal, Pricing, and Solution Development

  • Lead the development of customer solutions that are responsive to contractual requirements, operationally executable, scalable, compliant, financially viable, and supported by the appropriate people, processes, technology, and provider capabilities.
  • Review and interpret requests for information, requests for proposals, statements of work, performance - work statements, amendments, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional solution development and translate customer challenges and requirements into proposed operating models, workflows, provider network strategies, technology requirements, implementation approaches, quality controls, and performance measures in partnership with the appropriate functional leaders.
  • Develop and coordinate proposal content addressing technical and management approaches, operations, implementation, customer service, quality, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the development and validation of staffing, provider, vendor, technology, travel, implementation, and program-management assumptions used in pricing and financial planning.

Technology and Implementation Planning

  • Translate business and customer needs into functional requirements, workflows, reporting needs, integration requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with exam operations, clinical, provider network, technology, and other functional teams to support system evaluation, workflow design, testing, implementation, and optimization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation planning for new contracts, customers, services, program expansions, and technology deployments.
  • Develop and monitor integrated implementation plans identifying milestones, functional owners, dependencies, risks, resource needs, customer commitments, and readiness gaps, elevating significant issues and decisions to the appropriate leaders.

Business Performance and Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Analyze business-line trends, customer feedback, risks, capability gaps, and performance results to support strategic decisions and improvement priorities.
  • Facilitate lessons-learned activities and cross-functional planning discussions.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, customer value, financial performance, and coordination across the business line.
  • Incorporate performance insights and lessons learned into future capture, pricing, solution-development, and implementation activities.
  • Provide strategic business guidance and recommendations regarding growth opportunities, operational feasibility, investments, risks, and business-line priorities.
  • Facilitate collaboration across business development, capture, exam operations, provider network operations, clinical leadership, finance, pricing, technology, contracts, compliance, quality, and other functions.
  • Communicate business recommendations, solution decisions, implementation status, risks, dependencies, and investment needs to executive and functional leaders.
  • Represent the Occupational Health Services business line in customer meetings, partner discussions, planning sessions, and internal leadership forums.
  • Perform other related duties and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, operations management, public health, health services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, business operations, occupational health, government contracting, implementation, business development support, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive leadership / management experience in healthcare operations, business operations, occupational health, government contracting, implementation, business development support, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting federal government healthcare contracts and competitive procurements.
  • Experience with occupational health, workforce health, medical surveillance, or related healthcare service-delivery programs.
  • Experience supporting one or more of the following: capture, proposal development, pricing, implementation, or business-line planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer, contractual, clinical, and business requirements into operational solutions, workflows, proposals, implementation strategies, or technology requirements.
  • Experience collaborating across exam operations, clinical, provider network, financial, technical, quality, compliance, and business-development functions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and coordinate outcomes within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, proposals, implementations, deadlines, and strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and healthcare requirements, including OSHA, DOT, HHS/SAMHSA, HIPAA, credentialing, and clinical quality standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business, reporting, and project-management tools.
  • Ability to travel based on business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, operations management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition processes, government contract structures, capture, proposal development, and pricing practices.
  • Experience with healthcare pricing, provider reimbursement, staffing models, operational cost development, and margin considerations.
  • Experience supporting national provider networks or geographically dispersed healthcare-delivery models.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing healthcare technology solutions, such as electronic medical record, case-management, scheduling, contact-center, provider-management, portal, integration, or reporting platforms.
  • Project Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma, or a similar professional certification.

  • Travel and participation outside of standard business hours may be required based on customer and business needs.
