We are currently seeking a professional, innovative, and enthusiastic Fundraising Communications and Enablement Director. This is a fully remote position that can be located anywhere in the USA.


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The Fundraising Communications & Enablement team serves as the central hub for developing high-quality, consistent fundraising strategies, messaging, and materials that support the organization’s most compelling philanthropic opportunities at both regional and national levels.


The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for all fundraising communications, ensuring messaging, case development, and fundraising concepts are aligned with organizational priorities and growth objectives. This role leads the planning, development, and execution of communications and engagement initiatives that advance fundraising goals, strengthen donor engagement, and elevate the organization's mission and impact.


Working collaboratively across departments and with external partners, the Director drives the creation of innovative, donor-focused strategies and resources that support development efforts. The role is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of messaging and communications, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and implementing creative solutions that improve audience engagement and fundraising outcomes.


Success in this position requires exceptional project management, strategic communication, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling fundraising narratives and actionable development strategies.

 

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Responsibilities):

 

 Lead and develop comprehensive communications plans for fundraising initiatives.

 Manage, mentor, and develop a team of communications professionals.

 Partner with senior executives to ensure consistent and effective messaging across initiatives.

 Utilize storytelling strategies to support and enhance fundraising efforts.

 Collaborate with national and regional marketing teams to develop and execute fundraising communications campaigns.

 Manage complex, large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

 Create and oversee communications content, including:

  • Talking points
  • Key messages
  • Press releases
  • Social media posts
  • Newsletter content
  • FAQs
  • Product information sheets
  • Other communication materials

 Serve as the lead for external communications and public relations activities.

 Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.

 Ensure compliance with American Red Cross communications standards, reputation management practices, and issues management protocols.

 Develop and manage content for: RedCross.org, The Exchange, Red Cross social media platforms

 Support organizational visibility and fundraising success through strategic communications and engagement efforts.



WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: (Qualifications)

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Management Experience: 5 years of management experience.

Travel: Travel may be required.

Skills and Abilities:

 Excellent oral, presentation, and training skills with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.

 Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

 Ability to develop project plans, budgets, and strategic approaches that support organizational objectives.

 Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and develop creative solutions.

 Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 Knowledge of or exposure to fundraising communications, marketing, brand partnerships, or mission-driven campaigns preferred.

 Ability to think strategically and creatively while managing complex projects and multiple competing priorities.

 Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to manage deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.

 Comfortable working across departments and functions to support the development and execution of innovative initiatives.

 Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

 Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 Adaptable and solutions-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and execution

 Proven success managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

 Excellent written, verbal, and strategic communication skills.

 Experience with media relations, reputation management, and digital content strategy.

 

 SALARY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $126,00- $138,000.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned with the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, the number of years of experience you have, and comparisons to other employees already in this role.
