Director, eCommerce and Customer Acquisition

Resource Innovations is looking for an experienced, strategic, and performance-driven leader to join our team as Senior Director, eCommerce and Customer Acquisition. This position will build and lead Resource Innovations’ eCommerce and direct-to-consumer customer acquisition capability, helping our clients and RI generate demand and achieve measurable sales, enrollment, energy savings, and revenue goals. 

The Director, eCommerce and Customer Acquisition will support three areas of the business: Customer Engagement programs, including utility marketplaces, limited-time offers, and custom energy-efficiency kit sites; pay-for-performance (P4P) programs, where RI’s financial performance is directly connected to customer enrollment; and RI corporate marketing initiatives designed to generate qualified leads and accelerate growth. 

This leader will report into the Vice President of Marketing, and work closely with the Marketing Account Management team, which owns RI’s marketing client relationships, to translate client and contractual objectives into effective customer acquisition strategies. The Senior Director will support immediate program needs while building the processes, tools, partnerships, and operating practices needed to scale this capability across RI.

Duties and Responsibilities

ECommerce and Customer Acquisition Strategy 

• Develop customer acquisition strategies for Customer Engagement programs, including utility marketplaces, limited-time offers, and custom energy-efficiency kit sites. 
• Translate sales, enrollment, revenue, participation, and energy savings goals into integrated marketing and optimization plans.  
• Lead strategy across audience acquisition, digital merchandising, promotional planning, conversion optimization, cart recovery, cross-sell, and repeat purchase.  
• Develop scalable acquisition approaches and customer journeys for pay-for-performance programs where RI’s revenue depends on enrollment or participation.  
• Partner with Account Leadership to deliver executive-level performance reporting, leveraging audience insights and campaign analytics to drive optimization and achieve sales, participation, revenue, and energy savings goals. 
• Support Corporate Marketing with performance-marketing strategies that generate qualified leads and strengthen the sales funnel.

Performance Marketing and Optimization 

• Lead integrated campaigns across paid search, paid social, display, programmatic, email, direct mail, retargeting, and partner channels. 
• Establish structured testing programs for audiences, offers, messaging, creative, landing pages, and conversion pathways.  
• Develop lifecycle strategies supporting acquisition, activation, abandonment recovery, cross-sell, and re-engagement.
• Monitor performance across media, email and CRM platforms to drive continuous optimization and lead cross-functional action plans when sales, enrollment, conversion, or energy savings fall behind goals.  
• Use customer, media, marketplace, and program data to improve performance and guide investment decisions.

Capability Building and Leadership 

• Build RI’s enterprise eCommerce and customer acquisition capability, including its operating model, processes, standards, tools, talent, and external partnerships. 
• Create repeatable playbooks and best practices that can be applied across Customer Engagement, Pay-for-Performance, and corporate demand-generation initiatives. 
• Establish consistent KPIs, dashboards, forecasts, and optimization practices connecting marketing activity to program and financial outcomes.  
• Coach marketing, account, and program teams and help define the future organizational structure required to scale the capability. 
• Foster a culture of disciplined experimentation, continuous optimization, collaboration, and accountability.  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, eCommerce, or a related field. 
• 12+ years of experience in eCommerce, direct-to-consumer marketing, customer acquisition, performance marketing, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated success building or scaling an eCommerce, customer acquisition, or performance-marketing capability.
• Proven experience developing strategies tied to measurable sales, enrollment, participation, revenue, or conversion goals.  
• Deep knowledge of paid media, lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, digital merchandising, conversion optimization, and customer journey development.  
• Experience leading complex initiatives across marketing, account management, technology, operations, analytics, and creative teams.  
• Strong analytical, financial, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.  
• Proven track record of developing data-driven optimization recommendations that increase traffic, engagement, lead generation, and ROI across paid and organic channels. 

Preferred Experience 

• Experience in the energy, utility, technology, consulting, or professional services industries. 
• Experience supporting utility marketplaces, Residential programs, or other participation-driven programs.  
• Experience with pay-for-performance or outcome-based contracts.  
• Experience supporting both client program delivery and corporate demand generation.  
• Agency experience a plus
• Familiarity with Salesforce, marketing automation, GA4, eCommerce platforms, testing tools, and business intelligence solutions. Google Analytics Certified a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position.  The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $130,000-$200,000. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.  The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.
