About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Database Migration Consultant / Pod Lead to lead a large-scale database migration from SQL Server to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. This role will serve as the technical lead for the database workstream, providing hands-on expertise while mentoring other consultants and driving migration strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL migration effort
• Define and oversee schema conversion using AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT)
• Resolve complex database objects that cannot be automatically converted
• Convert and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
• Design and oversee AWS DMS migration processes, including full-load and CDC replication
• Review and validate work completed by team members
• Optimize PostgreSQL performance and database design
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the database migration team

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL development
• Expertise with:
  • Stored Procedures
  • Functions
  • Triggers
  • Views
  • SQL Agent Jobs
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL
• Experience migrating databases from SQL Server to PostgreSQL
• Strong understanding of data type mapping, query conversion, and performance tuning
• Experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT)
• Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS)
• Familiarity with SSIS and SSRS environments

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Database Specialty Certification
• Production experience with Aurora PostgreSQL
• Experience leading large-scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL migrations
• Experience with AWS migration and modernization projects
