Position Summary 

The Correctional Healthcare Data Analyst supports Monterey County Jail healthcare operations by collecting, organizing, validating, and reporting data used to monitor compliance with the applicable settlement agreement, court-ordered requirements, corrective action plans, and contractual performance expectations. The position requires an understanding of correctional healthcare workflows, clinical documentation, and electronic medical records so that reported data can be interpreted accurately, and potential documentation or compliance gaps can be identified. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Collect, organize, analyze, and report healthcare data associated with settlement agreement and contractual compliance measures. 

• Maintain practical compliance trackers, spreadsheets, dashboards, and recurring reports showing performance, trends, overdue items, and areas requiring follow-up. 

• Retrieve and validate information from CorEMR and other approved data sources, including review of the medical record when needed to confirm reported findings. 

• Conduct targeted record reviews as needed to validate reported data and identify documentation or compliance gaps. 

• Identify missing, incomplete, inconsistent, or inaccurate data and communicate findings to appropriate clinical or operational leadership. 

• Track corrective actions and improvement efforts related to identified compliance deficiencies. 

• Support settlement monitoring, audits, and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate, organized, and reproducible supporting data. 

• Collaborate with clinical leadership, healthcare staff, quality/compliance personnel, administration, and EMR support staff to resolve documentation, reporting, or workflow issues. 

• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements. 

Required Knowledge and Skills 

• Working knowledge of correctional healthcare operations, including how custody processes and the correctional environment may affect healthcare delivery and documentation. 

• Ability to understand medical terminology and navigate clinical documentation such as intake screenings, nursing and provider encounters, medication records, orders, referrals, chronic care, mental health documentation, and follow-up care. 

• Working knowledge of electronic medical records with the ability to locate relevant documentation and validate reported information against the patient record. CorEMR experience is strongly preferred. 

• Ability to work with compliance measures, including numerators, denominators, timeliness requirements, exceptions, missing data, and performance trends. 

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting/filtering, pivot tables, lookup functions, basic formulas, and data reconciliation. 

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize inconsistencies and communicate findings clearly to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. 

Qualifications 

• Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare, health information management, data analytics, public health, information systems, or a related field preferred. Relevant healthcare or correctional experience may substitute for formal education. 

• Experience with healthcare data, medical records, quality/compliance, EMR reporting, or related administrative analytics preferred. 

• Correctional healthcare experience is strongly preferred. 

• Experience with CorEMR, correctional healthcare auditing, quality improvement, or settlement/court-monitored compliance is highly desirable. 

Key Expectations 

The successful candidate will produce accurate and reproducible compliance data, understand how correctional healthcare workflows affect documentation and reporting, recognize when reported information may not reflect the underlying medical record, and appropriately escalate meaningful discrepancies or compliance concerns. The role is focused on reliable data management and validation—not advanced clinical informatics or enterprise-level data science. 

Additional Details 

• Location: Remote, inclusive of required travel to Monterey County Jail in Salinas, CA 

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, working Pacific time zone 

• Classification: Salaried Exempt  

• Status: Full-time  

• Compensation: $110,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
