Job DetailsJob Location: Smart Circle International - Newport Beach - Newport Beach, CA 92660Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $210,000.00 Salary/yearWe are seeking a talented and adaptable Corporate Counsel to join our Legal Department. This is an in-house generalist commercial counsel role: you will partner closely with teams across the business to enable strategic initiatives, negotiate and manage risk in commercial transactions, and provide practical day-to-day legal guidance. Data security and privacy will be a major pillar of the role, alongside broader commercial and operational support in a fast-paced environment.  The Corporate Counsel’s primary responsibility will be drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements to support strategic business initiatives. You will collaborate with stakeholders to gather input and drive matters to resolution. You will also advise on data security and privacy matters, help coordinate incident response, and support compliance with internal policies and evolving regulatory requirements.    The Basics:   Location: Southern California – WFH/Remote U.S. Based Only  Compensation: $60,000-$210,000/year, commensurate with experience  Travel: Up to 5%  Reports To: General Counsel   What You’ll Do:   Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of complex commercial agreements, including vendor, customer, and strategic partnership transactions  Provide forward-thinking advice on data security and privacy matters, including incident response support and compliance with evolving regulatory requirements  Proactively identify legal and operational risks and help design scalable, practical solutions  Ensure transactions receive appropriate Legal review while building efficient, business-friendly processes  Collaborate cross-functionally to gather input, align stakeholders, and move initiatives forward  Counsel internal clients on contract interpretation, dispute prevention, and risk mitigation  Serve as a trusted advisor who understands not just the law, but the business behind it  Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support team and organizational priorities   What You’ll Bring:   J.D. from an accredited law school with an active bar license in good standing  At least five (5) years of relevant experience, ideally in-house or in a fast-paced firm environment  Demonstrated experience advising on data security and privacy  Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills with sharp attention to detail  Experience with privacy program operations (e.g., DPAs, vendor assessments, data mapping), security addenda, and regulatory frameworks such as CCPA and TCPA  Comfortable driving multiple complex and novel projects simultaneously  Strategic thinker with strong analytical judgment and practical business instincts  Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to reprioritize in real time as business needs evolve  Confident communicator who can engage diplomatically and persuasively at all levels of the organization  Positive, solutions-oriented, and energized by growth and change    Smart Circle International is a leading broker of outsourced sales and customer acquisition services.
