AI Summary

You will act as the content backbone for projects, translating complex technical subject matter into clear, compelling stories for various audiences. This involves conducting research, defining narrative strategies, and collaborating with scientific advisors and designers to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Hey, we’re Bunsen. We’re a strategic launch partner for bio and deep tech startups solving some of the world’s biggest problems. We help scientists and engineers turn complex technologies into clear, compelling stories that connect with investors, customers, talent, and other important audiences.

We’re looking for a Content Strategist who can dig into complex subject matter, uncover what matters, and shape it into a story people can understand and care about. Maybe that’s you.

What you’ll do

As a Content Strategist, you’ll be the content backbone of our projects. You’ll work closely with clients, strategists, scientific advisors, designers, project managers, and other collaborators to understand complex technologies, define the right story, and carry that story through from discovery to final delivery.

Discovery: Help lead workshops and conversations to understand our clients’ businesses, technologies, audiences, goals, and customer needs. Conduct primary and secondary research, including user research and analysis, and synthesize what you learn into clear direction for the client and team.

Narrative Strategy: Turn complex information into a differentiated, accessible story. Define audiences, competition, positioning, messaging, naming, and other strategic foundations that help clients communicate clearly and consistently.

Content Strategy & Copywriting: Create content strategies, outlines, and copy for websites, decks, marketing and sales materials, and other deliverables. Translate highly technical subject matter into compelling content without losing the integrity of the underlying science.

Client Stewardship: Act as an advocate for the client throughout the project. Manage feedback and revision cycles, keep project nuances and business objectives in view, and help ensure important information isn’t lost as work moves between teams.

Collaborate with Scientific Advisors & Designers: Work closely with scientific experts to understand technical subject matter and make sure the content we create is accurate, credible, and appropriately nuanced. Partner with brand and visual designers to make sure strategy and content translate seamlessly into the final work. Help shape information diagrams and data visualizations that balance technical accuracy with clarity, and support the presentation of work to clients.

Who you are

Experienced: You have a strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling content across formats such as websites, decks, brand systems, and marketing or sales materials. You’ve worked with complex subject matter, ideally including biotech, life sciences, deep tech, or similarly technical industries.

Strategic: You don’t write in a vacuum. You connect content decisions to business objectives, audience needs, positioning, and the larger purpose of the work.

Curious: You genuinely enjoy learning about science and technology. You’re comfortable diving into unfamiliar, highly technical subject matter and doing the research required to understand it.

Collaborative: You’re comfortable working across disciplines and with teams that may include strategists, scientists, writers, designers, developers, project managers, and client stakeholders. You have experience working with creative agencies and/or product teams and understand the process of developing deliverables such as websites, decks, products, and brand identities.

Opportunity

Time: This role will start as a project-based contract, approximately 10–20 hours per week.

Growth: After the successful delivery of 2–3 projects, the role has the potential to transition to a full-time position.

Location: We are remote-first but require ~five hours of working hour overlap with Eastern Time. Meetings typically take place between 12–5 p.m. ET.

Compensation: We offer fixed-fee budgets for clearly defined projects, such as website and deck content creation, and hourly rates for less-defined or one-off work.
