The Job You Will Perform 

The Containerboard Area Health & Safety Coordinator position will report to the Containerboard Business Health & Safety Manager. This is a remote work position with up to 75% travel.  This position will support IPs performance goals by helping mill operations achieve Health & Safety goals including preventing Serious Injuries & Fatalities (SIFs) and growing our Safety Excellence Culture.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Coordinate a mill specific, data driven strategy for assigned mills developed working with mill lead teams and H&S resources 

  • Support mills in executing Safety Excellence efforts and projects

  • Support mill action plans with focus on exposure reduction and higher-level layers of protection (engineering controls, substitution or elimination)

  • Support SIF potential reporting, event learning and corrective action mitigation

  • Coach and develop mill H&S resources, both salary and hourly, including onboarding 

  • Support planned mill activities (e.g., outages, assessments, training, etc.)

  • Assist with unplanned events (e.g., incident response and event learning)

  • Build strong relationships with mill H&S and lead teams, HSE COE and Technology   

  • Engage the applicable subject matter owner to ensure alignment on H&S regulations, performance standards, program elements and related guidance

 

 

The Skills You Will Bring 

  • 5+ years of H&S experience (preferably in a mill) 
  • Working understanding of applicable regulations (OSHA, CMAA, NFPA, etc.)
  • B.S. degree in a related field (H&S Management, engineering, chemistry, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to our Safety Excellence culture
  • Experience managing HSE programs and policies
  • Customer Focus, Action Oriented, Interpersonal Skills, Dealing with Ambiguity, Time Management and Organizational Skills
