The Compliance Analyst supports illumifin by working with multiple business units on written complaint handling and unauthorized PII/PHI disclosures. Complaint handling consists of investigation, mitigation and timely and accurate response to complainants, Departments of Insurance, clients and illumifin leadership regarding long-term care insurance, life insurance, annuities and Medicare Supplement.  Unauthorized PII/PHI disclosure handling involves identification, mitigation, and reporting of cross-functional matters and risks related to potential disclosures.  Additional responsibilities include peer review, policy and procedure maintenance, legal document reviews, compliance system testing and triage of the compliance team mailbox for assignments.  Other duties and projects assigned may include training, topic mentoring, output review, litigation holds, records requests and direction to Associate Compliance Analyst. 

Key job responsibilities:

  1. Complaint investigation and responses
  2. Unauthorized PII/PHI Disclosure Investigations
  3. Conduct reviews of legal documents and related paperwork for proper designee identification
  4. Placing and removing litigation holds
  5. Works closely with Sr. Compliance Analysts and Supervisors, Compliance to increase skills.
  6. Complete documentation as required, including the logging of work in CREW
  7. Provide triage backup for the team email box for daily assignments to analysts.
  8. Policy and Procedure maintenance.
  9. Compliance system (CREW) advancement and testing.
  10. Serve as a topic mentor for Associate Compliance Analyst.
  11. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department.
  12. Bring innovation, contributes beyond assigned tasks, encourages morale.
  13. Work independently under general supervision with appropriate updates to leadership on progress and risks and some latitude for independent judgment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience working in insurance/healthcare administration or compliance.
  • 2+ years Long Term Care Insurance, health insurance, life insurance, annuity, Medicare supplement or related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience writing complaint responses and working with internal business units and regulators to resolve complaints.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities, including gathering, evaluating, interpreting, and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve privacy incidents and potential HIPAA violations.
  • Experience drafting correspondence, and other business documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and business writing standards, with the ability to edit and proofread documents for clarity, consistency, and correctness.
  • Effective quantitative analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and address multiple tasks, risk, and deadlines

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating, analyzing and responding to client audits and market conduct inquiries/exams.
  • Experience in healthcare privacy, compliance, health information management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state healthcare privacy laws and regulations
  • Professional compliance designations:
    • AHIP - Long Term Care Professional
    • HIPAA Professional/Certificate HIPAA Privacy Associate (CHPA); or
    • LOMA
    • Healthcare Compliance Accreditations/Certifications

The base salary range for this position is from $56,000-$72,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
