Location: ACA International, Savage, MN (or remote if approved)

Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt 

Summary

The Compliance Analyst position supports the development, maintenance, and enhancement of compliance tools, programs, and legal resources for the benefit of Association membership related to federal and state debt collection and related laws or regulations. This role actively leverages modern productivity, legal research, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to optimize operational efficiencies, track regulatory updates, analyze compliance trends, and deliver high-value resources to Association staff and members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The position's essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but other duties may be assigned as needed.

1. Compliance Operations & Member Support

  • Draft clear, insightful compliance articles, legal summaries, guidance materials, and disclaimers for Association publications, websites, and member alerts.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of member-facing compliance tools, templates, and reference materials.
  • Analyze and respond accurately to ad hoc member inquiries regarding legal and compliance matters in the credit and collection industry, investigating complex questions under the guidance of Senior Counsel[SP1] .


2. Regulatory Analysis & Research

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory environment affecting the credit and collections industry.
  • Conduct targeted legal and risk research using tools such as Westlaw, relational databases, and AI-driven platforms to analyze statutes, regulations, and decisional law.
  • Track national and regional regulatory changes, helping translate complex legal updates into actionable summaries for Association members.

3. AI Integration & Workflow Innovation

  • Actively integrate approved AI tools into daily compliance workflows to optimize legal research, draft content, summarize lengthy legal materials, and generate routine outputs efficiently.
  • Proactively stay current with emerging AI capabilities, industry best practices, and tech-driven methodologies to continuously streamline team processes.

4. Project Management & Cross-Functional Support[SP2] 

  • Collaborate effectively with fellow Compliance Analysts to support team objectives and department initiatives.
     
     
  • Manage compliance initiatives from scope definition through final deliverables under the direction of Corporate Counsel.
  • Engage in cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Membership, Marketing) to align compliance initiatives with strategic association goals.
  • Assist in building, maintaining, and presenting quantitative metrics and compliance reports to measure resource utilization and project success.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, pre-law, or a compliance-related field.

Preferred:

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant compliance, legal analysis, or paralegal experience, preferably within financial services, credit/collections, or a non-profit membership association environment.

Core Competencies & Technical Skills

  • A strong willingness to embrace, learn, and responsibly deploy modern AI software/tools to create efficiencies, improve output consistency, and solve problems.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and modern document management systems.
  • Ability to utilize Westlaw and relational databases.
  • Excellent business writing skills with the ability to summarize complex legal concepts for non-attorney audiences. Ability to present effectively during webinars, team meetings, or member sessions.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and basic statistical measures, as well as interpret standard data graphs and tables for reporting.
