Telstra Health proudly delivers the Leaving Violence Program, a national service supporting victim-survivors taking steps to leave violent relationships and establish lives free from violence. Through practical support and financial assistance, the program helps eligible individuals move towards greater safety and independence at a critical point in their lives.

About the role

Telstra Health is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Practice Lead to help shape the future of our Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence services. This is a unique opportunity to embed best-practice models into service delivery while providing hands-on leadership, mentorship and clinical supervision to frontline teams making a genuine difference in the community.

As a Clinical Practice Lead, you will provide practice leadership, supervision and mentorship to frontline teams, ensuring evidence-based, trauma-informed and person-centred FDSV services that meet regulatory requirements and prioritise safety and wellbeing.

You will foster a positive, collaborative team culture while leading quality improvement initiatives, overseeing practice frameworks and identifying opportunities to strengthen program effectiveness

What you'll bring to the role

Leadership of Evidence-based Practice 

  • Establish and embed evidence-based practice standards, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery

Coaching and Performance

  • Provide coaching, performance support and guidance to frontline staff, fostering continuous improvement, professional development and team engagement.

Clinical Supervision 

  • Deliver clinical supervision and mentoring to strengthen trauma-informed practice, risk assessment, safety planning and crisis response.
  • Provide guidance on critical incidents and support staff wellbeing, including managing vicarious trauma.

Training and Education Delivery 

  • Collaborate with education and training teams to develop and deliver training in trauma-informed care, risk assessment and culturally responsive practice.
  • Build workforce capability through reflective practice, case discussions and targeted professional development.

Professional Development 

  • Support staff career progression, clinical competency and structured learning pathways while maintaining high clinical standards.

Clinical Governance, Policies and Compliance 

  • Lead clinical governance and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee clinical policies, risk management and compliance to maintain safe, consistent and high-quality service delivery.

Quality Assurance Delivery 

  • Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement activities, monitoring service effectiveness, program outcomes and victim-survivor feedback.

Complaints Management and Investigation 

  • Oversee clinical complaints and investigations, ensuring fair, transparent resolution in line with relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen client advocacy and feedback processes.

About you

  • 5+ years' experience in FDSV practice, providing expert advice on safety planning, risk assessment and trauma-informed care.
  • Extensive experience leading frontline teams, coaching staff and managing performance in a fast paced, FDSV client-facing service.
  • Proven experience supporting practitioner development, including training, clinical supervision and CPD tracking.
  • Strong quality assurance skills, with experience reviewing case practice against compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Confident managing critical incidents, from risk escalation through to resolution and debrief.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, risk assessment, and safety planning for high-risk cases.

Qualifications

  • Three-year bachelor’s degree in Social work, Counselling, Community Services, Psychology or equivalent. 
  • Postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling/Psychotherapy (or equivalent).

Registration or accreditation with at least one of the following:

  • Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
  • Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Background Checks

  • Current Working with Children Clearance (or ability to obtain before commencing).
  • Completion of a National Police Check (or ability to obtain before commencing).
  • Verification of the right to work in Australia. 
  • Formal verification of qualifications. If qualifications were obtained overseas, verification within Australia by PBR (Professional Bodies Recognition) is required.
