What Success Looks Like in This Role

This isn’t just a list of tasks - it’s a roadmap for impact. You’ll be expected to:

  • Deliver Accurate, Timely Payroll Services
    • Take full ownership of payroll execution for assigned clients.
    • Accurately process time tracking, payroll calculations, and paycheck preparation.
    • Ensure 100% on-time delivery of payroll runs with zero critical errors.
  • Establish Trusted Client Relationships
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.
    • Respond to client questions and issues within 24 hours.
    • Maintain high client satisfaction scores through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to Team and Process Improvement
    • Identify and recommend at least one payroll process improvement within the first 90 days.
    • Collaborate with team members to share best practices and support cross-training.
  • Demonstrate Growth Potential
    • Show initiative in taking on additional responsibilities or mentoring peers.
    • Express interest in supervisory or client success leadership tracks.
  • Support Pacific Time Zone Operations
    • Work Pacific Time hours to align with client needs.
    • Flexibility to adjust hours during peak payroll windows is a plus.

 

What You'll Need for This Position

  • Technical Expertise: Deep experience with full-cycle payroll processing ideally in a multi-state/multi-client environment.
  • Client Service Orientation: Proven ability to build rapport, understand client needs, and deliver a positive service experience through responsive support and guidance. 
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently while guiding clients through payroll questions and challenges. 
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, compliance, and thorough documentation.
  • Digital Fluency: Comfort navigating payroll systems (UKG Ready), digital tools, and remote communication platforms.
  • Critical Thinking: Skilled in identifying root causes, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Time Zone: Availability to work Pacific Time hours, regardless of location.

 

Bonus Skills (valued, but not required)

  • Processing experience with UKG Ready.
  • Exposure to agriculture, manufacturing, nonprofits.
  • FPC or CPP certification.
  • Spanish language proficiency to enhance client communication.
  • Supervisory experience or aspirations.

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $22 – 32/hour.

 

Remote Eligibility: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Pinion office or attendance at offsites, as requested/required by the firm and/or your supervisor.
