Civil Engineer

Position Description

Cushing Terrell is hiring a Civil Engineer to join our team in a remote role supporting land development projects across the country. This position combines document production with a deeper understanding of design and systems components across civil land development, with additional exposure to water and wastewater design.

What does this role involve day to day? You will develop calculations, specifications, and three dimensional site designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D, applying and expanding your command of civil engineering codes and standards across grading, drainage, utility, and site design work.

What does success look like year one? An experienced Civil Engineer in this role takes projects from conception to final design with minimal input from senior staff, building trusted client relationships and contributing land development expertise to project teams across the firm.

Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $88,000 to $115,000 annually.

Required Qualifications**

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a current NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) license
• Proven experience in land development and water and wastewater design
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficiency with WaterCAD or equivalent modeling software, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, ArcGIS, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (including Teams)
• Strong technical writing and communication skills

Position Responsibilities***

• Develop civil engineering calculations, specifications, and three dimensional site designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D for land development projects
• Apply civil engineering codes and standards to grading, drainage, utility, and site design work
• Contribute to water and wastewater design tasks as part of broader land development project scopes
• Take projects from conception through final design with minimal oversight from senior engineers
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver coordinated land development solutions
• Prepare clear technical documentation to support project delivery and client communication
