CBP Installer/Trainer

About the role

• This will be a temporary (estimated 6 months) role that will require travel to the installation sites, with a January 2027 anticipated start
• Remote within a CBP Southwest Boarder Sector with up to 50% travel required.
• A CBP Installer/Trainer will be responsible for conducting in-person and virtual training related to ATAK and the goTenna ecosystem.
• This will leverage slideshow presentations, hands-on product usage in a classroom setting, as well as the potential to conduct outdoor “Checks on Learning”.
• The Trainer will also be responsible for coordination with Sectors receiving the training, troubleshooting, collecting feedback from the training, as well as generating an After Action Report (AAR) related to the training.
• This position will also be responsible for the setup and installation of goTenna EdgeRelays.
• This will include coordination with CBP personnel at the Sectors/Stations the installations will occur, as well as coordination for logistics involved in the shipping and receipt of the required equipment.
• This position will report to the Customer Experience (CX) Team.

What you'll do

• The CBP Installer/Trainer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all things related to the deployment of the EdgeRelay as well as all things related to the training of the ATAK/goTenna ecosystem
• This will include:
• • Coordination for site access and required personnel (escorts and/or tower climbers) as needed.
  • The unboxing and initial setup of the EdgeRelay.
  • The physical installation.
  • The tuning and functions testing post-install.
  • General troubleshooting related to these processes.
  • Coordination for site access and required personnel (Students/TAK Coordinators/Escorts) as needed.
  • Lead both in-person and virtual classroom-based training sessions.
  • Refining and validating the training documentation and materials.
  • Creating and conducting Check-on-Learning and related small field exercises.
  • General troubleshooting related to these processes and the product offerings.
  • Additionally, the inspection, updating, and validation of existing EdgeRelays will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to receive a successful CBP Background Investigation.
• Geographically located in/near a CBP sector on the Southern Border.
• The ability to commute to the Station training and installation sites within your region.
• The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• The ability to walk distances up to .5 miles including on moderate terrain, such as rocky footing and inclines such as hills.
• The ability to work outdoors to include temperature and UV expected along the southern border.
• Participating in a preliminary onboarding to gain advanced knowledge of the goTenna Pro X series and related hardware, software, solution deployability, and training documentation and process.
• Participating in periodic training update sessions to address any changes that may occur in the products or curriculum.
• Conducting virtual or onsite onboarding training and troubleshooting at US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Sector Train the Trainer sessions.
• Participate in logistics planning meetings ahead of assigned or related Installation/Training deployments.
• Coordinating with CBP and CX to update, adjust, and refine the training curriculum to ensure it accurately meets the operational needs for the Agents being trained, as well as refining the installation planning and execution process ensure it accurately meets the operational needs for customer.
• Participating in periodic training update sessions to address any changes that may occur in the products related to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) goTenna EdgeRelay or Seamless Integrated Communications (SIC) network.
• Document current use cases, issues, and opportunities.
• Be responsive to CX related to other departments such as Product Management and Engineering in order
• to successfully troubleshoot technical issues related to the CBP owned goTenna equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Other related duties as require

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience working directly with CBP.
• Hands-on experience with the use and/or installation of tactical radios and related equipment.
• Experience with goTenna equipment and ATAK.

Hourly Rate: 65/hr
