About us
Blue Education is an international education and career development consultancy supporting ambitious students as they progress from leading universities into highly competitive professional careers.
Our careers programme provides personalised, industry-specific guidance to students applying for internships, graduate programmes and early-career opportunities across financial services, consulting, technology and related sectors.
We are looking for experienced professionals who can translate their first-hand industry and recruitment knowledge into practical, high-quality career coaching. Our tutors work primarily with university students and recent graduates targeting competitive roles in the UK, Europe, Asia and other major global markets.
The Role
As a Careers Tutor, you will provide personalised 1-to-1 careers coaching to students pursuing competitive internships and graduate opportunities.
Rather than providing generic careers advice, you will draw on your first-hand professional experience to help students understand how their target industry recruits, what interviewers and employers are assessing, what distinguishes strong candidates, and how expectations differ across firms and roles.
A successful Careers Tutor should be able to go beyond telling a student how to answer an interview question. You should be able to explain why an answer succeeds or fails, identify gaps in a student’s commercial, technical or interpersonal skills, and provide structured guidance on how they can systematically improve.
Tutoring is delivered remotely and tailored to each student’s target sector, firms, roles, experience and stage of recruitment.
Responsibilities
Career strategy and positioning: Help students identify suitable career paths, firms and roles based on their academic background, professional experience, strengths and longer-term objectives.
Industry and company preparation: Guide students in researching firms, sectors, transactions, investment themes and market developments so that they can develop informed and differentiated motivations for applications and interviews.
Interview preparation: Conduct tailored mock interviews covering motivational, behavioural, competency-based and commercial-awareness questions. Provide specific feedback on answer structure, analytical depth, communication and delivery.
Technical interview preparation: Support students with technical questions relevant to your area of professional expertise, including areas such as accounting and valuation, financial markets, investment research, quantitative reasoning, business strategy or technology.
Case study preparation: Prepare students for role-specific case studies and assessment exercises. Depending on your professional background, this may include consulting cases, stock pitches, market discussions, transaction exercises, modelling or valuation exercises, quantitative problems and other analytical assessments.
Structured feedback and development: Diagnose areas for improvement and establish clear actions between sessions, allowing students to build skills progressively rather than preparing only for individual interviews.
Professional Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:
Investment Banking
Global Markets / Sales & Trading
Equity or Credit Research
Asset Management
Hedge Funds / Investment Management
Quantitative Trading/Research/Development
Management / Strategy Consulting
Technology, including software, data, AI or related technical roles
Strong first-hand understanding of recruitment, interviews and professional expectations within your industry.
Experience at a leading financial institution, investment firm, consultancy, technology company or other highly selective professional organisation is advantageous.
Coaching Competencies
Ability to explain complex industry and technical concepts clearly to university students with varying levels of prior knowledge.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide precise, constructive and actionable feedback.
Ability to identify weaknesses in a student’s application or interview performance and translate them into a structured development plan.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt your coaching style to different personalities, backgrounds and career objectives.
A high degree of professionalism, reliability and preparation when working with students.
