Change.org is searching for a Campaigns Communication Specialist (Fixed term through Dec. 18, 2026) to help drive and secure media coverage for the big, brand-defining campaigns led by our users. You will report to our Senior Communications Manager and be a key member of our Communications team — identifying strong campaigns for email, social media, and press experimentation; staying on top of compelling issues and news stories for campaign selection and escalation; drafting brand emails for a wide audience; and using media to drive campaign impact, victory, and brand awareness.

Change.org is the world’s largest platform for democracy. At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy globally is at an all-time high, we’re investing heavily in using AI to build an operating system for modern democracy. This includes our platform for giving people greater voice, a personalized voter guide for elections, and a new product which aims to bring people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions.

To realize this vision, we’re building a team at the intersection of technology and civic engagement — bringing together top talent focused on giving citizens a direct voice, strengthening accountability, and building stronger, more resilient democracies.

Key Outcomes

  • Identify strong campaigns for our team to test over email, social, and press.

  • Use media to drive campaign impact, victory, and brand awareness — including pitching press, building reporter lists, and suggesting stories for social media.

  • Support petition starters in driving their campaigns to victory and talking to press about their campaign.

  • Write brand emails that perform well across Change.org’s email audience.

  • Stay on top of compelling issues and news stories to inform campaign selection and escalation.

The most important core competencies for the role are:

  • Strong writing skills, with experience writing press pitches, marketing emails, and social content.

  • Proven track record landing media hits, including top-tier digital and print publications.

  • Robust relationships with journalists and influencers who can help tell Change.org’s brand story.

  • Experience building media strategies that successfully drive brand awareness.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapid-response environment.

  • A strong sense of what petitions will perform well on social media.

  • Willingness to work across differences, including supporting policy-compliant campaigns you may not personally agree with, in keeping with Change.org’s commitment to being an open platform.

Target experience

  • 3–6 years working in organizing or campaigning

  • 5+ years working in communications
