AI Summary

Act as the bridge between clinical stakeholders and analytics teams to translate provider business needs into technical requirements and data products. Manage the intake process via ServiceNow and lead UAT to ensure the accuracy of regulatory and quality reporting.

Business Analyst

100% Remote in Mountain Standard Time Only

Description:

We are building the Data & Analytics Managed Services team for a client across Health Plan, Delivery System, Quality, and System Services domains. We are seeking a Business Analyst with deep healthcare provider knowledge to serve as the bridge between clinical and operational stakeholders in the Delivery System (DS) and Medical Group (MG) and the analytics delivery teams (“PODs”).

In this role you will translate provider-side business needs — clinical operations, hospital quality, provider productivity, and regulatory reporting — into clear requirements, well-scoped enhancements, and trusted analytics products. You will work within a ServiceNow-based intake-to-delivery model against defined SLAs, helping move from reactive, fragmented reporting to a proactive, insight-driven analytics organization.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with provider stakeholders (clinical leaders, service-line and hospital operations, physician groups, quality and regulatory teams) to elicit, document, and prioritize analytics and

reporting requirements.

Translate business needs into detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications for dashboards, reports, and data products.

Manage demand intake through the single ServiceNow front door — triage, classify (Minor / Major Enhancement / Project), estimate effort, and prioritize the backlog in line with governance.

Analyze provider-domain source data (Epic clinical and operational data, claims, encounters, provider and encounter dimensions) to define metric logic, business rules, and data lineage.

Co-design dashboard and report design with developers and data engineers; review prototypes, validate metric definitions, and ensure outputs match clinical and operational intent.

Lead user acceptance testing (UAT): build test scenarios, coordinate stakeholder sign-off, and confirm regulatory and quality figures are accurate before release.

Safeguard the accuracy and timeliness of regulatory and quality submissions (e.g., CMS quality programs, Joint Commission, value-based care measures), escalating risks to on-time delivery.

Investigate data quality issues withinanalytics boundaries — triage, root-cause with engineering, and communicate impact to affected provider stakeholders.

Drive self-service adoption by producing clear documentation, data dictionaries, and training/enablement materials for provider power users.

Participate in operational and governance forums (weekly tactical, monthly operational), reporting backlog status, delivery progress, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Provider Domain Knowledge (What You'll Bring)

This role requires demonstrable understanding of thehealthcare provider / delivery-system environment. You should be comfortable across:

Clinical & operational reporting — patient throughput, length of stay, ED and OR utilization, patient access and scheduling, capacity, and care-team productivity.

Hospital quality & regulatory measures — CMS quality programs (Hospital IQR, Value-Based Purchasing, HAC Reduction, Readmissions), Joint Commission / core measures, and value-based care.

Provider performance — physician and advanced-practice productivity (wRVUs), panel management, provider compensation analytics, and network/provider development metrics.

Epic analytics ecosystem — Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, and SlicerDicer; interpreting Epic clinical and operational data extracts.

Care management & population health — risk stratification concepts, chronic-condition and utilization management, and quality gap closure.

Revenue cycle & encounter data — working familiarity with charges, claims/encounters, coding (ICD-10 / CPT), and how they surface in operational analytics.

Benchmarking tools — exposure to Premier and Mede Analytics (or comparable provider benchmarking platforms).

Compliance — HIPAA and the safe handling of PHI in analytics and reporting.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Business, a clinical/health discipline, or equivalent experience.

4+ years as a Business Analyst (or similar) in a healthcare provider, health system, or healthcare analytics/consulting setting.

Proven experience gathering and documenting analytics/reporting requirements and translating them into specifications developers can build.

Working proficiency in SQL for data profiling, validation, and analysis.

Hands-on experience with a modern BI platform (Tableau strongly preferred; BusinessObjects a plus).

Strong understanding of provider-side clinical and operational data and healthcare quality/regulatory reporting.

Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage both clinical/operational and technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with the Epic Cogito / Caboodle reporting stack.

Experience in an ITIL/ITSM-based managed services or support model, working to defined SLAs and a ticket-based intake (ServiceNow).

Familiarity with Agile delivery (backlog, sprints, user stories) and tools such as Jira.

Exposure to data warehousing and ETL concepts(e.g., IBM DataStage, DB2, SQL Server).

Certifications such as Epic Cogito/Clarity, CBAP/CCBA, Tableau, or a healthcare quality credential (e.g., CPHQ).

Experience supporting value-based care, ACO, or population-health analytics.

Technical Skills

Data & query: SQL (DB2, SQL Server); data profiling and validation.

BI & visualization: Tableau (required-level proficiency), BusinessObjects (nice to have).

Source systems: Epic (Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer).

Delivery tooling: ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence/SharePoint; requirements and UAT documentation.

Concepts: data warehousing, ETL/orchestration awareness, data quality, and data governance basics.

Core Competencies

Stakeholder management and the ability to build trust with clinical and operational leaders.

Analytical rigor and attention to detail — especially where regulatory or quality figures must be exact.

Clear, structured communication and storytelling with data.

Prioritization and comfort managing competing demands and rapid reprioritization.

   Ownership, follow-through, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
