Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a fast-growing North American home services company. This role will be responsible for managing bookkeeping activities in QuickBooks Online (QBO), including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate has strong QuickBooks Online experience, understands how North American home service businesses operate, and is comfortable working independently in a lean, fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and on time.
  • Track purchases of raw materials and custom-ordered items associated with customer projects.
  • Maintain organized vendor records and supporting documentation.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Manage customer invoices generated through Jobber.
  • Apply incoming customer payments and monitor outstanding balances.
  • Assist with collections and follow up on overdue invoices as needed.

Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records.

General Bookkeeping

  • Record and categorize financial transactions in QuickBooks Online.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure books remain tax-ready.
  • Assist with inventory-related expense tracking and bookkeeping activities.

Operational Support

  • Maintain and update operational trackers and supporting documentation using Google Sheets.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure financial records align with day-to-day business operations.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and general bookkeeping.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets.
  • Experience with Jobber is a plus but not required.

Accounting Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, including AP, AR, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Industry Experience

  • Experience supporting North American home service or contractor businesses is highly preferred.
  • Background in industries such as roofing, HVAC, plumbing, home improvement, fencing, garage doors, window/door replacement, siding, or similar service-based businesses is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with inventory tracking, job costing, and project-based operations is preferred.
