Profile Requirements:
Min. 4 years of professional bookkeeping experience, with the ability to independently manage bookkeeping functions for Australian businesses or clients.
Strong working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or equivalent platforms, including reconciliations, reporting, accounts payable and receivable.
Strong understanding of Australian bookkeeping and financial administration requirements, including GST, BAS, payroll-related records and general compliance obligations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to work directly with business owners, Executive Assistants and Accountants and communicate financial information clearly.
Highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple clients, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality and identify financial issues before they escalate.
Core responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end bookkeeping activities, including transaction processing, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and financial record maintenance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across accounting and bookkeeping systems, ensuring transactions are correctly categorised and recorded.
Complete regular bank, credit card and account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.
Prepare financial reports, summaries and supporting information for the client and their Accountant, ensuring information is accurate, complete and provided within agreed deadlines.
Work closely with the client’s Executive Assistant to coordinate financial administration, obtain required documentation, track outstanding information and ensure bookkeeping tasks are completed efficiently.
Communicate directly with the client’s Accountant regarding reconciliations, reporting, tax-related information, adjustments, financial queries and other accounting requirements.
Monitor accounts and financial records to identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, missing documentation and other issues, proactively investigating and escalating matters where appropriate.
Maintain strong financial processes and documentation, supporting month-end activities, preparing information for BAS and tax requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve bookkeeping efficiency and accuracy.
